Penrice, South Australia
Penrice is a small town in the Barossa Valley of South Australia, just north of Angaston. Penrice is the site of a large limestone and marble quarry which was operated by Penrice Soda Products until that company failed. The quarry was bought by Adelaide Brighton Cement as a going concern in July 2014. Penrice quarry Penrice Stone Train was the last customer of the Barossa Valley railway line, but the railway has not been used since Adelaide Brighton bought the quarry. Penrice was named by Captain Richard Rodda most likely after Penrice, an estate near St Austell, Cornwall. Penrice Castle
Penrice Castle ( cy, Castell Pen-rhys) is a 13th-century castle near Penrice, Swansea on the Gower Peninsula, Wales. Nearby is a neo-classical mansion house built in the 1770s. The mansion is a Grade I listed building and the surrounding gardens and park is also listed at Grade I on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. History Penrice Castle is the 13th-century successor to a strong ringwork to the south east, known as the Mountybank. It was built by the de Penrice family, who were given land there for their part in the Norman conquest of Gower. The last de Penrice married a Mansel in 1410 and the castle and its lands passed to the Mansel family. Penrice Academy is a secondary academy school and former specialist Language College in St Austell, Cornwall, England. The school has an enrollment of 1,428. History The school opened in 1960 as a secondary modern school, Penrice Secondary Modern School, becoming a comprehensive in the 1970s. It gained academy status on 1 April 2011. Penrice Soda Products
Penrice Soda Products was a company founded in 1935 in South Australia. It was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, named after its quarry near the small town of Penrice, South Australia. It was forced to close its soda ash production plant in Osborne and was placed in liquidation in August 2014. History Penrice Soda Products operations were founded by ICI Australia in 1935. The Dry Creek Saltfields and Osborne soda ash plant were acquired from ICI in 1989. The salt fields were sold to Ridley Corporation in 2005. Penrice Soda Products was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2005. It was placed in liquidation in August 2014. Gary Penrice
Gary Kenneth Penrice (born 23 March 1964) is an English football coach, former professional player and scout. As a player, he was a striker who notably played in the Premier League for Queens Park Rangers as well as making top flight appearances for Aston Villa. He also had two spells with Bristol Rovers where he started and finished his professional career, notably alongside Ian Holloway. He also played for Watford and non-league side Mangotsfield United in a career that saw him make over 400 appearances. Following retirement he became assistant manager at Bristol Rovers before returning to Queens Park Rangers in a similar role. He then became a chief scout and worked for Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City, Stoke City before joining Everton specialising in the European market. James Penrice
James Regan Penrice (born 22 December 1998) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a left-back for Livingston. Club career Partick Thistle After progressing through the club's Thistle Weir Academy, Penrice made his senior debut in a 3–3 draw between Partick Thistle and Dundee United in which he was credited with an assist. He then made his home debut in a 2–2 draw with Hamilton Academical on the last day of the 2015–16 season, winning the man of the match award. Penrice joined Scottish League One side East Fife on loan in December 2016, until the end of the season. The following summer Penrice was then loaned to Livingston in August 2017 until January.
