Pennsylvania Route 98 (PA 98) is a state highway located in western Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 6 (US 6)/ US 19/ US 322 in Vernon Township. The northern terminus is at PA 5 in the borough of Avonia, from Lake Erie. PA 98 also intersects Interstate 90 (I-90) and US 20 near Fairview. Route description PA 98 begins at an roundabout with US 6/US 19/US 322 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, with the road continuing south as part of US 19. From this intersection, the route heads north on two-lane undivided Perry Highway, passing rural areas of homes before heading through farmland and passing to the east of Port Meadville Airport. The road continues through wooded areas of homes, coming to an intersection with PA 102. Vernon Township is a township in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,310 at the 2020 census, down from 5,630 at the 2010 census. According to the township's website, Vernon Township is nicknamed the "Golden Link" due to its location between the county seat ( Meadville) and the largest natural lake in the state (Conneaut Lake), as well as being the self-described business center of Crawford County. Geography The township is southwest of the geographic center of Crawford County and is bordered to the east by Meadville, the county seat. The Erie West Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the U.S. states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. The line runs from Derby, New York southwest along the shore of Lake Erie to Cleveland, Ohio, along the former New York Central Railroad main line. At its east end (west of downtown Erie), the Erie West Subdivision becomes the Lake Shore Subdivision; at its west end (east of downtown Cleveland), it becomes the Cleveland Terminal Subdivision. Fairview Township is a township in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States.
