Pennsylvania Route 308 (PA 308) is a state highway located in Butler and Venango Counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 8 near Butler. The northern terminus is at State Route 3013 (SR 3013) north of an interchange with the PA 8 expressway in Pearl. Route description PA 308 begins at an intersection with PA 8 near the Clearview Mall in Center Township, Butler County, heading north on two-lane undivided West Sunbury Road. The road passes residential developments in the community of Windward Heights before heading into wooded areas with some farm fields and homes. The route passes over the Canadian National's Bessemer Subdivision railroad line and continues into agricultural areas with some woods and residences, crossing into Clay Township. Butler is a city and the county seat of Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located north of Pittsburgh and is part of the Greater Pittsburgh region. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 13,502. History Butler was named for Maj. Gen. Interstate 80 (I-80) in the US state of Pennsylvania runs for across the northern part of the state. It is designated as the Keystone Shortway and officially as the Z.H. Confair Memorial Highway. This route was built mainly along a completely new alignment, not paralleling any earlier US Routes, as a shortcut to the tolled Pennsylvania Turnpike to the south and New York State Thruway to the north. Boyers is an unincorporated village in Marion Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It has a small population with a few businesses located in the center of the town. Slippery Rock Creek flows through the community. The creek's source is a few miles to the east, in the small village of Hilliards. Pennsylvania Route 308 is one of the main roads in the area, running through the center of Boyers. History Boyers was a large mining community at the turn of the 20th century, serviced by a branch of the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad known as the Hilliards branch.
