Peng Xuefeng
Peng Xuefeng () (September 9, 1907 – September 11, 1944) was a New Fourth Army general officer during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Early life Peng was born in Zhenping County, Henan. He was not related to Marshal Peng Dehuai. Personal life Peng was killed in action in Xiayi County, Henan 5 months before the birth of his son. Peng was 37 years old. Peng's son is Peng Xiaofeng, a retired general in the People's Liberation Army. New Fourth Army
The New Fourth Army () was a unit of the National Revolutionary Army of the Republic of China established in 1937. In contrast to most of the National Revolutionary Army, it was controlled by the Chinese Communist Party and not by the ruling Kuomintang. The New Fourth Army and the Eighth Route Army were the two main communist forces from 1938. The New Fourth Army was active south of the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang), while the Eighth Route Army was based in Yan'an in the northwest. Members of the New Fourth Army wore their badges on the left arm, with ''"N4A"'' and the soldier's unit and name listed on the badge. The Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) or War of Resistance (Chinese term) was a military conflict that was primarily waged between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. The war made up the Chinese theater of the wider Pacific Theater of the Second World War. The beginning of the war is conventionally dated to the Marco Polo Bridge Incident on 7 July 1937, when a dispute between Japanese and Chinese troops in Peking escalated into a full-scale invasion. Zhenping County, Henan
Zhenping County () is a county in the southwest of Henan province, China. It is under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Nanyang. Introduction Zhenping was known in ancient times as Nieyang. It has a long history of jade carving for more than 4,000 years, and it is known as the jade capital of China. Peng Dehuai
Peng Dehuai (; October 24, 1898November 29, 1974) was a prominent Chinese Communist military leader, who served as China's Defense Minister from 1954 to 1959. Peng was born into a poor peasant family, and received several years of primary education before his family's poverty forced him to suspend his education at the age of ten, and to work for several years as a manual laborer. When he was sixteen, Peng became a professional soldier. Over the next ten years Peng served in the armies of several Hunan-based warlord armies, raising himself from the rank of private second class to major. In 1926, Peng's forces joined the Kuomintang, and Peng was first introduced to communism. Peng participated in the Northern Expedition, and supported Wang Jingwei's attempt to form a left-leaning Kuomintang government based in Wuhan. Peng Xiaofeng (; born February 1945) is a retired general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) who served as political commissar of the PLA Second Artillery Corps. Early life Peng is from Zhenping County, Henan Province. Peng is the son of Peng Xuefeng, a renowned general during the Second Sino-Japanese War and the head of the 4th division of the New Fourth Army. Career Peng entered the PLA Institute of Military Engineering in Harbin in September 1963, and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in December 1965. Peng joined the PLA in August 1968. The Chinese Civil War was fought between the Kuomintang-led government of the Republic of China and forces of the Chinese Communist Party, continuing intermittently since 1 August 1927 until 7 December 1949 with a Communist victory on mainland China. The war is generally divided into two phases with an interlude: from August 1927 to 1937, the KMT-CCP Alliance collapsed during the Northern Expedition, and the Nationalists controlled most of China.
