Peng Chau
Peng Chau is a small island located off the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is known locally for its temples, fishing industry and seafood. Geography Peng Chau has an area of and a perimeter of about . The tallest point of the island is Finger Hill (手指山), which is in height. In 2003, the island underwent land degradation restorative work. Administration Politically, Peng Chau is part of Peng Chau & Hei Ling Chau constituency of the Islands District Council. The executive branch of the government of the island included department of the Islands District Office of the Home Affairs Department. The local police station belongs to the Cheung Chau Division of the Marine Police. Chi Ma Wan
Chi Ma Wan () is a bay on southeastern Lantau Island, New Territories, Hong Kong. Chi Ma Wan Peninsula () is where Chi Ma Wan, as well as Cheung Sha Wan, Tai Long Wan, Yi Long Wan and Mong Tung Wan are located. The Peninsula is located within the boundaries of Lantau South Country Park. Correctional institutions The Chi Ma Wan Correctional Institution is near Cheung Sha Wan on the peninsula. It was originally picked out by the Hong Kong Colonial Government as a site to house Russian refugees but in the end they decided not to build it and focussed on a prison instead. Mui Wo
Mui Wo is a rural town on the eastern coast of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The 2011 Census recorded 5,485 people living in Mui Wo and its environs. Mui Wo is located on Silvermine Bay, so named for the silver mines that were once worked along the Silver River () which flows through the village. The main beach in Mui Wo is known as Silver Mine Bay Beach (). The town is known for the feral water buffalos and cows that roam the area. Prior to the Airport Core Programme and the subsequent development of Tung Chung and North Lantau into a new town, Mui Wo was the principal point for day-trippers setting out to explore Lantau Island. Cheung Chau
Cheung Chau (lit. "Long Island") is an island southwest of Hong Kong Island. It is nicknamed the 'dumbbell island (啞鈴島)' due to its shape. It has been inhabited for longer than most other places in Hong Kong, and had a population of 22,740 . Administratively, it is part of the Islands District. Geography Geographically the island is formed from two mostly granite masses joined by a tombolo. They are often used to transport goods around the islands from the ferry pier where they are deposited. The Great China Match Company Factory () was a large-scale manufacturing facility producing matches. The factory was located on the island of Peng Chau in Hong Kong. The facility was completed towards the end of the 1930s and was at one point the largest such factory in South East Asia. History The Great China Match Company Factory was founded by Ong-Sung Lieu (), Kyih-Sung Lieu (), and T.L. Soong () in 1939. The factory on Peng Chau was established as the Great China Match Company relocated its operations from Mainland China to escape the advancing Japanese occupation of China.
