Pender County Schools is a public school system located in southeastern North Carolina, providing an education for 7,800 students in Pender County. Pender County School District consists of 19 schools located in a diverse array of suburban and rural communities, and serves students in pre-school through grade 12. The Central Service Offices are located in Burgaw, North Carolina, about 21 miles from Wilmington, North Carolina. Pender High School is located in Burgaw, North Carolina on Highway 53, and about 25 miles from Wilmington, North Carolina. It was established in 1975. Pender High is a 1A school with about 650 enrolled students and 56 teachers. The school's mascot the Patriots. A topsail ("tops'l") is a sail set above another sail; on square-rigged vessels further sails may be set above topsails. Topsail High School
Topsail High School is a High School located in the unincorporated town of Hampstead, North Carolina. It is part of Pender County Schools. Its current interim principal is Dr. Larry Obeda. Dr. Obeda succeeds the role of Mr. Christopher Madden. Topsail High School is now a North Carolina School of High Growth.
