San Juan Reservoir
The San Juan reservoir (''Embalse de San Juan'', in Spanish) is located along the Alberche river between the municipalities of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, El Tiemblo, Cebreros and Pelayos de la Presa, at the south-eastern end of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, bordering on the province of Province of Ávila, Ávila. The reservoir was built in 1955 and has a capacity of 138 km3, covers a surface area of 650 hectares, and is managed by the ''Confederación Hidrográfica del Tajo''. Since the 1990s one of its main functions has been to deliver water to the city of Toledo, Spain, Toledo along the canal known as the ''Trasvase Picadas-Toledo''. Alberche River
The Alberche is a river in the provinces of Ávila, Madrid and Toledo, central Spain. It begins its course at 1,800 m in Fuente Alberche, San Martín de la Vega del Alberche municipal term, Ávila Province. It forms the natural division between the Sierra de Gredos and the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Sistema Central. Cistercian Architecture
Cistercian architecture is a style of architecture associated with the churches, monasteries and abbeys of the Roman Catholic Cistercian Order. It was heavily influenced by Abbot Bernard of Clairvaux (d. 1153), who believed that churches should avoid superfluous ornamentation so as not to distract from prayer.
