Pedros Cup
The Pedro's Cup is a biannual athletics event of two legs, which features an indoor track and field competition in January or February and an outdoor competition during the European summer period. The first competition of each year since 2005 has taken place in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The second competition of each year has taken place in another city, currently Poznan, Warsaw and Szczecin have hosted the summer/autumn Pedro's cup competition. The event typically draws top level competition, including at least fifteen Olympic medalists in 2008 and more in 2009. The meet is unique because it draws best athletes of the world to compete in a rather cold climate. At the 2008 event, Asafa Powell became the first sprinter to turn in a sub-10 second 100 metres time in Poland, and in 2009, he equalled the meet record of 9.82 seconds. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. Mark Boswell (athlete)
Mark Boswell (born July 28, 1977) is a Canadian high jumper, who won a total number of six national titles in the men's high jump event. Boswell was born in Mandeville, Jamaica and grew up in Brampton, Ontario. Boswell attended the University of Texas at Austin. In 2006, he won gold at the Commonwealth games held in Melbourne, Australia. Anastasija Reiberger
Anastasija Reiberger, née Ryzhikh (born 19 September 1977 in Omsk) is a Russian-born German pole vaulter. She is the older sister of fellow pole vaulter Lisa Ryzih. Her greatest success was the gold medal in the 1999 World Indoor Championships. Reiberger's personal best is , achieved in July 2006 in Nürnberg. As of 2016, this ranks her tenth among German pole vaulters. Biography After living in Russia as a child, father Vladimir Ryzhikh moved his family to the German city of Ulm in 1992. He was a pioneer of pole vault in Germany and introduced his children to the sport. Soon, his elder daughter "Nastja", as she was then called, flourished in this sport (like her younger sister Lisa Ryzih later), setting several junior records and participating for Germany after obtaining German citizenship when she was 18. Joanna Aleksandra Pilichiewicz/Piwowarska (born November 4, 1983, in Wałcz) is a Polish pole vaulter. She set her personal best height of 4.53 metres by finishing second for the women's pole vault at the 2006 IAAF Super Grand Prix Meeting in Doha, Qatar. Pilichiewicz/Piwowarska represented Poland at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's pole vault, along with her compatriots Monika Pyrek and Olympic bronze medalist Anna Rogowska Anna Rogowska (born 21 May 1981) is a retired Polish athlete who specialised in the pole vault. Fabiana Murer
Fabiana de Almeida Murer (born 16 March 1981) is a retired Brazilian pole vaulter. She holds the South American record in the event with an indoor best of 4.82 m and an outdoor best of 4.87 m, making her the fourth highest vaulter ever at the time, now the eighth. She won the gold medal at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships and also won at the 2007 Pan American Games. Murer represented Brazil at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She is a four-time South American Champion with wins in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011. Murer was coached by both the Ukrainian Vitaly Petrov, who managed the world record holders Sergei Bubka and Yelena Isinbayeva, and her husband, Élson Miranda de Souza, a former vaulter himself.
