Pedro Sienna Awards
The Pedro Sienna Awards ( es, Premios Pedro Sienna) are honors granted for Chilean audiovisual production. Named for silent film director Pedro Sienna, they were given for the first time in 2006. Outstanding artists are awarded for the development and strengthening of national audiovisual media and the best works, artists, and technicians of the production of works released in the country between January and December of the previous year. They came about as a result of Law No. 19.981 of 2005 that created the Council of the Art and Audiovisual Industry (CAIA) and the Audiovisual Promotion Fund, both under the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNCA). Pedro Sienna was one of the forerunners of Chilean cinema, directing '' El Húsar de la Muerte'' (1925) and winning the National Prize for Art in 1966. National Council Of Culture And The Arts
The National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNCA) was the Chilean government agency responsible for arts and cultural policy. The council was founded in 2003 and amalgamated arts and cultural policy under a single agency. It was a cabinet-level position in the Chilean position. Since the council was founded, six ministers have been in charge of the council: José Weinstein under President Ricardo Lagos Escobar, Paulina Urrutia under President Michelle Bachelet, Luciano Cruz-Coke and Roberto Ampuero under President Sebastián Piñera, Claudia Barattini and Ernesto Ottone under the second period of President Michelle Bachelet. Catalina Saavedra Pérez (born 8 January 1968) is a Chilean film, stage and television actress. She is known to international audiences for playing the title character in the 2009 film '' The Maid'', for which she received several awards and nominations.
