Pedro Díaz (baseball)
Pedro Díaz Ramos (born 1910), also listed as Pablo Diaz, is a Cuban former baseball catcher and first baseman in the Negro leagues. A native of Bauta, Cuba, Díaz played from 1930 to 1935 with several teams, including the Cuban Stars (East), Cuban Stars (West), the Pollock's Cuban Stars, and the New York Cubans. Bauta, Cuba
Bauta is a municipality and town located southwest of Havana City, in the Artemisa Province of Cuba since 2010 as a result of the division of what was the Province of Havana (Havana Countryside). Geography Part of the Havana metropolitan area, the municipality includes the villages of Anafe, Cangrejeras, Cayo La Rosa, Comunidad Ben Tre, Corralillo (Félix E. Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LBPRC) is the main professional baseball sports league, league in Puerto Rico; it is colloquially referred to as the Puerto Rican Winter league baseball, Winter League. Pollock's Cuban Stars
The Cuban House of David were a traveling Negro league baseball team that played from about 1927 to 1936 featuring players primarily from Cuba. History Syd Pollock began booking opponents for the Havana Red Sox in 1927, and bought the club from Ramiro Ramirez in 1928. Ramirez stayed on as the manager and the team began barnstorming around Miami. By 1929, Pollock introduced comic routines into the games and developed what was to become known as "shadow ball." Shadow ball was when the infielders would mime throwing a ball around for between-inning warm-ups. These routines would later be made famous in the 1940s by Pollock's Indianapolis Clowns and Abe Saperstein's Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.
