Pedro Antonio del Carmen DÃaz de ObaldÃa (5 July 1852 – 8 May 1919) was one of the presidential designates of Panama in 1918 and in that capacity also acting President of Panama from 1 October 1918 to 12 October 1918. Ciro Luis Urriola
Ciro Luis Urriola Garrés (3 July 1863 – 26 June 1922) was a Panamanian politician. He returned to Panama in 1888 to practice his profession. In 1893 he was in charge of Health Medicine of the Port of Panama for four years. He travels to Paris and in 1898 he studies bacteriology and nervous diseases. Then he settles down in Dublin where he obtains a diploma in bachelor's degree, which is now obstetrics. He returned to Panama in 1901, in the middle of the thousand-day war, where his adherence to liberalism caused him problems. After independence, he was a member of the National Constituent Convention. In 1903, he was appointed a doctor in the service of policemen and prisoners of the old Hospital Santo Tomás, and since then he has been dedicated to the study of malaria. In 1904 he returned to Paris as a delegate of the Tuberculosis Congress and went to Rome where he studied malaria. Belisario Porras
Belisario Porras Barahona (28 November 185628 August 1942) was a Panamanian journalist and politician. He served three terms as President of Panama between 1912 and 1924. Porras was born in Las Tablas, on the thirty-fifth anniversary of Panama's declaration of independence from Spain. Raised by his grandmother, his early education was paid for by his father in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, which Panama was a province of at the time. He joined his father when he went to secondary school, went on to study law at the National University in 1874, and won a scholarship from the Colombian government to study in Belgium from where he later returned to Panama. Working as a reporter, he aligned himself with the local Colombian Liberal Party, and was soon the target of persecution by the reigning Conservative government in Bogotá. The vice president of Panama is the second-highest political position in the Government of Panama. Since 2009, the position of Vice President has been held by only one person. The National Assembly of Panama ( es, Asamblea Nacional de Panamá), formerly the Legislative Assembly of Panama ''(Asamblea Legislativa de Panamá)'', is the legislative branch of the government of the Republic of Panama. It is a unicameral legislature, currently made up of 71 members, who serve five-year terms. Legislators from outlying rural districts are chosen by a first past the post method, while districts located in more populous towns and cities elect multiple legislators by means of a proportion-based formula. Panama's legislative elections are held simultaneous with its presidential and local elections. Panama also returns a delegation of 20 deputies to the supranational Central American Parliament.
