Peder Slotsvik
Peter Joachim Kristian Slotsvik (3 February 1862 – 20 September 1924) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and fiction writer. He was born in Ålesund. He co-founded Noregs Ungdomslag in 1896 and served as its first chairman until 1899. He then edited the newspaper ''Indre Smaalenenes Avis ''Smaalenenes Avis'' is a local newspaper published in Askim, Norway. It covers Indre Østfold. Ålesund () sometimes spelled Aalesund in English, is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal County, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Sunnmøre and the centre of the Ålesund Region. The town of Ålesund is the administrative centre of Ålesund Municipality, as well as the principal shipping town of the Sunnmøre district. The town is a sea port and is noted for its concentration of Art Nouveau architecture. Although sometimes internationally spelled by its older name ''Aalesund'', this spelling is obsolete in Norwegian. However, the local football club Aalesunds FK still carries that spelling, having been founded before the official change. Noregs Ungdomslag (NU, literally "Norway's youth society") is a Norwegian cultural society formed in 1896. It has around 17,000 members and 450 local chapters. Activities Among the society's activities are folk dance, theatre and the spreading of knowledge and use of traditional costumes ( no, bunad). Several activities are directed towards youth and children. Some local chapters, such as Bondeungdomslaget i Oslo, run their own sports clubs (IL i BUL), or also music societies. From 1913 to 1956 the society had a shared secretariat with the Nynorsk language organization Noregs Mållag. The society has been a driving force for the building of assembly houses, coffee houses and lodging houses ( no, bondeheimar), folk high schools and secondary schools. Smaalenenes Avis
''Smaalenenes Avis'' is a local newspaper published in Askim, Norway. It covers Indre Østfold. It was established in Mysen in 1899 under the name ''Indre Smaalenenes Avis'', and covered the municipalities of Eidsberg, Trøgstad and Marker. A trial issue came on 22 December 1899, followed by the first official issue on 4 January 1900. The first editor, who sat until 1901, was a Methodist pastor. Peder Slotsvik took over. It had a politically bourgeois leaning, with an unofficial Liberal affiliation during Slotsvik's time, then a Norwegian Agrarian Association affiliation in the 1920s. In 1929 it absorbed the agrarian newspaper ''Søndre Østfold''. In the 1930s ''Indre Smaalenenes Avis'' gradually became an unofficially Conservative newspaper. During the German occupation of Norway it was forced to have a Nazi editor from 1942 to 1945. The circulation improved from about 4,000 in 1932 to 4,853 in 1950, 5,928 in 1970 and 7,578 in 1990. Sven Moren
Sven Moren (24 October 1871 – 14 December 1938) was a Norwegian farmer, poet, story writer, playwright, children's writer, organizer and politician for the Liberal Party (Norway), Liberal Party. Personal life Moren was born in Trysil as the son of farmers John Svensen Moren and Hanna Halvorsdatter Buflod. He married Gudrid Breie in 1907, and was the father of poet Halldis Moren Vesaas and educator Sigmund Moren. He died in Trysil in 1938. Career Moren published his first poetry collection, ''Vers'', in 1895. His next collection, ''Hildring'' came in 1897. His story ''Paa villstraa'' was published in 1898. His literary breakthrough was the story ''Storskogen'' from 1904. The book is framed around a traditional love story between a boy from a cotter's family and a girl from a large farm.
