Peden McLeod
Peden Brown McLeod (September 3, 1940 – December 30, 2021) was an American politician. Early life, education and military career McLeod was born in Walterboro, South Carolina and was a lawyer there. McLeod graduated from the Asheville Academy in Asheville, North Carolina. He then graduated from Wofford College in 1962. McLeod served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 and was commissioned a captain. In 1967, McLeod graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Political career McLeod served on Walterboro City Council from 1970 to 1972. He was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1972 to 1980. He then served in the South Carolina Senate from 1980 to 1990. McLeod was a member of the Democratic Party. Death McLeod died at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina. Robert Lloyd Peden (born 11 November 1973) is an Australian former professional boxer who won the vacant IBF super featherweight title in 2005 by beating Nate Campbell by TKO. Peden was the third person of Aboriginal descent to win a world title, joining super middleweight Anthony Mundine (2003) and bantamweight Lionel Rose (1968). David Murray Peden (4 November 1946 — 12 March 1978) was a Scottish first-class cricketer. Peden was born at Edinburgh in November 1946. A club cricketer for Fifeshire and later Stenhousemuir, Peden made his debut in first-class cricket for Scotland against Ireland at Cork in 1973. He made two further first-class appearances for Scotland, both against Ireland at Dublin in 1975 and Glasgow in 1976. With the bat, he scored 108 runs in his three first-class matches at an average of 21.60, with a highest score of 45. With his right-arm medium pace bowling, he took 2 wickets. Outside of cricket, Peden was a civil servant at Acas. Flight Lieutenant David Murray Peden (19 October 1923 – 6 January 2022) was a Canadian air force officer, lawyer, and author. From 1941 to 1945 Peden served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a bomber pilot and completed the majority of his tour of duty with No. 214 Squadron of RAF Bomber Command. Following the war he returned to Canada and became a lawyer in Winnipeg. Later in life he authored three books. He is best known for his 1979 memoir '' A Thousand Shall Fall'', which former director of the Canadian Army Historical Section, C. P. Stacey, called "the best book any Canadian has written about his war experiences, and one of the best books about the war that has been written anywhere." Margaret ("Petch") Sayers Peden (May 10, 1927 – July 5, 2020) was an American translator and professor emerita of Spanish at the University of Missouri. Prior to her death in 2020, Peden lived and worked in Columbia, Missouri. Early life and education Peden was born at West Plains, Missouri, daughter of horseman Harvey Monroe Sayers and Eleanor Green (née James), and grew up in many towns across Missouri. She played six women's test matches for the Australia women's cricket team in the 1930s, and was the first Australian women's Test captain. A catcher, he appeared in nine Major League games for the Washington Senators. He threw and batted right-handed, stood tall and weighed . John Peden (12 July 1863 – 15 September 1944) was an Irish footballer who played as an outside left for Newton Heath and Sheffield United in the 1890s. He made 24 appearances and scored seven goals for Ireland in a 12-year international career, interrupted by a two-year gap while he played in England (England-based players were not selected for the Ireland national team until 1899). Born in Belfast, Peden began his career with Linfield as a 21-year-old in 1886.
