Pecho Creek
Pecho Creek, originally known as Arroyo Del Pecho or Cañada del Pecho, is a stream in San Luis Obispo County, California. Pecho Creek has its source is in the Irish Hills , at , east-southeast of Saddle Peak, at an elevation of . The stream flows south-southwest to its mouth at the Pacific Ocean, west-northwest of San Luis Hill. Its mouth is at sea level in the Pacific Ocean. History Pecho Creek was part of the eastern boundary of the Rancho Pecho y Islay, and of subsequent Rancho Cañada de los Osos y Pecho y Islay when it was consolidated with the Rancho Cañada de los Osos in 1845. Irish Hills
Irish Hills is an area of land located roughly in southeastern Jackson County and northwest Lenawee County in Southeast Michigan. It was named after the numerous Irish immigrants who settled there from 1830 until 1850. Today it is known throughout the state for its scenery, especially in the summer. Its hills and larger kettle lakes surround the Hayes State Park. It is also known for its chain of smaller kettle lakes bordered by US Highway 12 (US 12, Michigan Avenue). These link to Cambridge Junction Historic State Park, which is adjoined by the Michigan International Speedway. Irish Hills has a number of resorts. Saddle Peak (California)
Saddle Peak is a mountain located in the Santa Monica Mountains between Malibu and Calabasas. The summit is accessible via the Backbone Trail. There is also a feeder trail to the top from near the top of Stunt Road (just 1 block below the ridge intersection with Scheuren Road at the viewpoint) maintained by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. And there is an informal trail up the bottom East nose of the massif right across the intersection from the Scheuren Viewpoint. Rancho Pecho y Islay was an Mexican land grant in the Irish Hills, Montaña de Oro State Park and Diablo Canyon Power Plant in present-day San Luis Obispo County, California. History Rancho Pecho y Islay was granted in 1843 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Francisco Badillo. The Rancho Pecho y Islay grant was a strip of coastal plain along the Pacific Ocean that ran from Islay Creek to Pecho Creek and up that creek to the summit of the Irish Hills to the "boundry with the land of Don Victor Linares," ( Rancho Cañada de los Osos). It includes the southern part of Montaña de Oro State Park and the site of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. The Rancho Pecho y Islay was sold by Francisco Badillo in 1844 to James Scott and John Wilson. That year they also purchased the Rancho Cañada de los Osos from Victor Linares. Rancho San Miguelito was a Mexican land grant in present-day San Luis Obispo County, California given in 1842 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Miguel Ávila, and an addition granted in 1846 by Governor Pio Pico. The grant extended along the Pacific coast, and included Point San Luis, San Luis Obispo Bay, and present day Avila Beach. History Miguel Avila (1796 - 1874) was a son of Jose de Santa Ana Avila, a Spanish soldier stationed at the presidio of Santa Barbara. In 1816 Miguel Avila was in the Monterey company, and in 1824 he was corporal of the guard at Mission San Luis Obispo. In 1826 he was transferred to Monterey for quarreling with the mission priests. In Monterey, he married Maria Inocenta Pico (1810-), daughter of Jose Dolores Pico. Avila was granted Rancho San Miguelito in 1842. Miguel Avila was alcalde of San Luis Obispo in 1849.
