Peats Ridge Festival
Peats Ridge Festival was an Australian sustainable arts and music festival, held in Glenworth Valley, Peats Ridge, one hour's drive north of Sydney and a 90-minute drive from Newcastle, New South Wales. Established in 2004, one year after the death of the founder of the Glenworth Valley Horse Riding facility, the Festival was recognised as one of the world's leading sustainability events. It ran for three days around New Year's Eve, from 29 December to 1 January. The event organisers relied heavily on volunteer support, and volunteer service was rewarded with a free ticket. That type of employment strategy was one of many of the sustainable options chosen by the organisers of the festival. Peats Ridge is a suburb in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, as part of the local government area. Carla Werner
Carla Werner is a singer and songwriter from New Zealand who began her music career at age 11. At age 12 she won the New Zealand Junior Entertainer of the Year for country music, and went on to win the junior category of New Zealand's first televised talent show 'Telequest' in 1986, hosted by Mark Leishman and judged by Ray Columbus. After migrating to Australia in 1989, and moving to Sydney in 1992, she joined The Cool Tin Box in 1994, a short-lived acoustic-rock quintet formed by Matt Rankin and ex Go-Between Lindy Morrison on drums featuring lead guitarist Tim Cooper. Stiff Gins
The Stiff Gins are an Indigenous Australian band from Sydney. They call their music "acoustic with harmonies" and are regularly compared to Tiddas. The band was formed by Emma Donovan, Nardi Simpson and Kaleena Briggs in 1999, after meeting at the Eora Centre while studying music. The band's name uses the word ''gin'' (a derogatory word for an Aboriginal woman which was also a Dharug word for woman/wife) with the word ''stiff'' to become strong black woman, a name which caused debate about use of the word ''gin''. Emily Maguire (singer)
Emily Lucy Maguire (born 8 March 1975) is an independent English singer songwriter. She has released five albums to date which are distributed through Universal by Active Media. All the songs apart from one cover version are written and composed by Maguire. She has also released two books, containing a mix of poetry, prose, song lyrics and diary entries. Coda is a Rock en Español band from Mexico, formed in 1989. The band had much of success in the early 1990s, releasing four albums. In the late 1990s, the band had several line-up changes; the band disbanded in 2000, but resurfaced in 2002 with a new line-up. Band history Early years (1989−1990) Coda was formed in 1989 by Salvador "Chava" Aguilar and Toño Ruíz with the intention to do quality rock music. Endorphin is the stage name of Eric Chapus (born ca. 1962, Saint-Tropez, France), an electronic act and music teacher. Since 1984 he has lived in Australia originally at Kuranda, where he started his musical career.
