Peacebone
"Peacebone" is a single (and later an EP) by American experimental pop band Animal Collective, released on August 13, 2007 by Domino Records. It was issued in advance of the group's 2007 album, ''Strawberry Jam'', which was released in September of that year. The single version contains "Safer" as a B-side, while the EP contains two additional remixes of "Peacebone" by Black Dice and Pantha du Prince, respectively. Formats There are three different versions of the single. The 10" vinyl features the B-side "Safer", a live favorite during the Collective's ''Strawberry Jam'' concerts in 2005 and 2006. The 12" vinyl contains two remixes of the title track, one by Black Dice and another by Pantha du Prince. Finally, the CD is a collection of both vinyl releases, and is considered by the record label to be an EP. People (Animal Collective EP)
''People'' is the second EP by American experimental pop band Animal Collective, released in October 2006. The first three songs were recorded during the band's '' Feels'' sessions in 2005, while the live version of "People" was recorded on tour in March 2005, just prior to the sessions. The cover originally depicted a " mammy" illustration that was removed for the EP's 2020 digital reissue. Reception Reviewing the EP for ''Rolling Stone'', Christian Howard praised "Tikwid" but dismissed the rest of the record as "weirder and less memorable, as the band dives into the ether and works up head-trip beauty without giving much to latch on to. With two of four tracks of not terribly interesting studio stuff and one of four a live version of the title track, it's hard to recommend ''People'' too strongly". 2020 reissue In 2020, as a large majority of their back catalogue was to be added to Bandcamp, the band decided to change the artwork for the EP, citing its inclusion of a "racist ... Fireworks (Animal Collective Song)
"Fireworks" is the second single from Animal Collective's 2007 album, ''Strawberry Jam'', released November 5, 2007 by Domino Records. Rather than including a B-side, the reverse side of the record is an etching. The video for the song premiered in July 2007, which shows the band members watching fireworks. During the tours of 2005 and 2006 this song was known as "Allman Vibe". The song was listed at No. 35 on Pitchfork Media's top 500 songs of the 2000s. When performed live between 2007 and 2009, the song often stretched upwards of ten minutes with the addition of elements of either "Essplode" or "Lablakely Dress", two songs from the band's earlier album ''Danse Manatee''. Animal Collective is an American experimental pop band formed in Baltimore, Maryland. Joshua Caleb Dibb (born January 6, 1978), also known by his moniker Deakin, is an American musician who co-founded the experimental pop band Animal Collective. He is the most infrequent member of the collective appearing on only six of the group's eleven studio albums. In 2016, he made his solo debut with the album ''Sleep Cycle''. He also occasionally works as a carpenter during musical down time. Biography Dibb was born on January 6, 1978, in Orange, California to Jessica B Mendlovitz and David C Dibb, who married in 1977. David Michael Portner (born April 24, 1979), also known by his moniker Avey Tare, is a musician and songwriter who co-founded the American experimental pop band Animal Collective. He has released three solo albums, as well as three collaborative albums with Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) which were later retroactively classified under Animal Collective's discography. Animal Collective Portner met Animal Collective's Deakin (Josh Dibb), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), and Geologist (Brian Weitz) in high school. For years, the four of them swapped homemade recordings, shared musical ideas and performed in different group configurations.
