Peabody-Whitehead Mansion
The Peabody-Whitehead mansion is a historic residence located at 1128 Grant Street in Denver, Colorado. The three-story brick mansion was designed in 1889 by architect Frank Edbrooke, designer of Denver’s famous Brown Palace Hotel. The mansion has been listed as a Denver landmark since 1993. The mansion was originally owned by battlefield surgeon and prominent early figure in Denver's medical community Dr. William Riddick Whitehead. In 1903 and 1904, it served as the residence of Colorado Governor James Hamilton Peabody. The media and local residents use the names "Peabody mansion" and "Peabody house" interchangeably to refer to both the Denver mansion and a different historic mansion located in Cañon City. However, James Peabody himself referred to the Cañon City home as the “Peabody House”, while “Peabody Mansion” was the name given to the home in Denver. Sheedy Mansion
The Sheedy Mansion and its accompanying carriage house is a historic residence located at 1115-1121 Grant St. in Denver, Colorado. It was built in 1892 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. Architecture The three-story mansion, with accompanying two-story carriage house, cover a total of 20,000 sq. ft. (16,000 sq. ft. for mansion and 4,000 sq. ft. for carriage house) and contain 42 rooms. It was designed by architects Erasmus T. Carr and William Pratt Feth and displays a combination of the Queen Anne and Richardsonian Romanesque architectural styles. The exterior is constructed of red brick and sandstone. Cañon City is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Fremont County, Colorado, United States. Red Rock Canyon Open Space
Red Rock Canyon Open Space is a city park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is situated on the west side of the city, adjacent to Manitou Springs and south of U.S. Route 24. The park consists of a series of parallel ridges (called " hogbacks") and eroded canyons. While these ridges, relatively low compared to other in the region, include a continuation of the same sandstone rocks of the Fountain and Lyons formations that make up the Garden of the Gods a few miles to the north, most of the other rock formations also associated with the geology of the Colorado Front Range can be accessed within a short walking distance. Queen Anne Architecture In The United States
Queen Anne style architecture was one of a number of popular Victorian architectural styles that emerged in the United States during the period from roughly 1880 to 1910. Popular there during this time, it followed the Second Empire and Stick styles and preceded the Richardsonian Romanesque and Shingle styles. Sub-movements of Queen Anne include the Eastlake movement. The style bears almost no relationship to the original Queen Anne style architecture in Britain (a toned-down version of English Baroque that was used mostly for gentry houses) which appeared during the time of Queen Anne, who reigned from 1702 to 1714, nor of Queen Anne Revival (which appeared in the latter 19th century there). The Tabor Opera House is an opera house in Leadville, Colorado. Opened in 1879, The building has been designated a national treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
