Pafawag (Państwowa Fabryka Wagonów) (English: National Rail Carriage Factory) is a Polish locomotive manufacturer based in Wrocław. The company became part of Adtranz in 1997 as Adtranz Pafawag, and in 2001 part of Bombardier Transportation. . History The factory opened in 1833 as Linke-Hofmann-Werke, Breslau, and became one of the major production centres for rolling stock in Europe. By the end of the Second World War most of the factory had been destroyed, and after the War the city of Breslau became part of Poland. In 1953 the company was renamed Pafawag. In 1953 the company produced the EP-02, the first Polish electric locomotive manufactured after World War II. In the late 1980s to mid 1990s the company experienced increasing economic problems due to lack of orders causing loss of production and lower employment. In 1997 ABB DaimlerBenz Transportation (ADtranz) acquired a majority share in the company. The Adtranz group (DaimlerChrysler Rail Systems after 1999) was ...

An extended play (EP) is a Sound recording and reproduction, musical recording that contains more tracks than a Single (music), single but fewer than an album. Contemporary EPs generally contain up to eight tracks and have a playing time of 15 to 30 minutes. An EP is usually less cohesive than an album and more "non-committal". An extended play (EP) originally referred to a specific type of 45 revolutions per minute, rpm phonograph record other than 78 rpm standard play (SP) and 33 rpm LP record, long play (LP), but , also applies to mid-length Compact disc, CDs and Music download, downloads. EPs are considered "less expensive and less time-consuming" for an artist to produce than an album, and have long been popular with punk and indie bands. In K-pop and J-pop, they are usually referred to as Mini-LP, mini-albums. Background History EPs were released in various sizes in different eras. PKP Class EN71
The EN71 (manufacturer's designation: Pafawag 5Bg/6Bg) is a four-carriage Polish EMU constructed for the Polish National Railways ( PKP). It is based on the three-carriage EN57, but differs in that it has an additional motor carriage. History Originally developed for the Yugoslav market, the EN71 in Poland was designed to replace the EN57, which was struggling to cope with the steep inclines of the newly electrified Kraków – Zakopane route. Twenty EN71s were built at the PaFaWag works in 1976 and a further 30, or so, were converted from individual EN57 units in 1981–84. The original twenty EN71s had bodywork made from corrugated metal; units with numbers above 20 are converted from EN57s and can, therefore, have bodywork made from either flat or corrugated metal panels. Construction The EN71 is made up of four carriages: two with cabs; two with motors. The former (factory designation 5B) are marked as ra — where r stands for ''rozrządczy'' (the Polish term for control ...

PKP Class EW58
Pafawag 3WE and 3WEa (car type ''301B''+''401B''+''301B'', series ''EW58'') are standard gauge three-car high-platform electric multiple units produced by Pafawag in Wrocław between 1974 and 1980, with a total of 28 units built. Initially, these vehicles were intended for the Gdańsk and Warsaw Railway junction, railway hubs, but they were ultimately only operated in the Tricity, Poland, Tricity. In the 1990s, most of the units were involved in accidents and subsequently scrapped. In 2010, there were plans to modernize the remaining 7 units in operation, but two years later, this refurbishment was canceled, and their service was terminated. By the end of 2016, it was decided to scrap 6 units and preserve the seventh as an exhibit. The experience gained from the production and operation of 3WE units was used to build two units of the PKP class EW60, 6WE series in 1990. Origins In the mid-1960s, the Electric multiple unit, electric multiple units (EMUs) in operation in Poland, wh ...

PKP Class EP08
EP08 (also manufactured as Pafawag 102E) is the name for a Polish electric locomotive used by the Polish railway operator ''Polskie Koleje Państwowe'' (PKP), produced between 1972 and 1976 in Pafawag, Wrocław. The construction is based on the EU07 locomotive. History In the 1970s PKP intended to increase speed of Polish passenger trains, which resulted mainly in building CMK line (Trunk Line) and the modernisation of EU05 locomotives into EP05 series. Meanwhile a project was opened to introduce new electric locomotives able to pull trains with speeds upwards of , based on British EU06 and local EU07 machines. In 1972 the first prototype left Pafawag works and until 1976 a total number of 15 units had been produced. Further production was ceased due to huge orders of freight locomotives and insufficient funds for importing foreign parts for the machine. EP08 were the first locomotives in Poland to exceed the top speed limit of and contributed (alongside the EP05 class) to t ...

With 1183 units, it is one of the most numerous standard gauge electric locomotive built in Europe.Terczyński, Paweł. ''Świat Kolei'' 8/2006 Further 23 units were built for Morocco as E-1000 class. History Soon after Pafawag started the production of the universal EU07 locomotive, ''The Rolling-stock Industry Central Bureau of Construction'' () began to develop a new heavy Co-Co freight locomotive. The electrical components of the locomotive, including the traction motors, were based on the equipment used in the EU07. The new locomotive had some modern features, including its body. The first two prototypes of the class 201E were ready by the end of 1969 (ET22-001 and 002). A short series of ten was made in 1971, and large scale production started the following year. PKP bought 1183 locomotives until the production was ce ...

This locomotive was designed as a mixed-traffic locomotive, and as such is used both in freight and passenger traffic. Technical data EU07s have driving cabs at each end of the locomotive. The locomotive is equipped with multiple unit control system, which allows a single driver to drive two coupled engines from one cab. This engine is able to pull passenger trains of up to weight with speed of and freight trains of up to weight with speed of . These figures apply to driving on level track. History The EU07 is strongly connected with the EU06 locomotive. The EU06 was a Polish derivative of the Class 83 locomotive built for the British system. PKP Class EW55
PKP class EW55 (manufacturer's designation: Pafawag 3B/4B) were Standard-gauge railway, standard-gauge, three-car, high-platform Electric multiple unit, electric multiple units produced between 1958 and 1962 in a quantity of 72 units by the Bombardier Transportation Polska, Pafawag factory in Wrocław. Starting in 1959, they were directed to Katowice and Warsaw. In 1964, the vehicles ended service in Upper Silesia, and their operation was finally concluded in 1995. Origins, design, and production Due to the shortage of suburban units in the Warsaw railway junction and the anticipated high demand for such vehicles in the Katowice junction as well, it was decided to develop and manufacture a new electric multiple unit (EMU) in Poland. In 1952, the Railway Electrification Office, using the operational results of the PKP class EW51, EW51 and series units, prepared preliminary design assumptions. In the following years, the parameters and design solutions for individual devices of ...
