Payton Sandfort
Payton A. Sandfort (born July 12, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference. Early life and high school career Sandfort grew up in Waukee, Iowa and attended Waukee High School, where he played basketball and golf. He averaged 19.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and four assists as a junior. Sandfort was named the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association 4A Player of the Year after averaging 16.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists during his senior season. He also helped Waukee to a state championship in golf as a senior. Sandfort was rated a three-star recruit and committed to playing college basketball for Iowa over offers from Stanford, Utah, Minnesota, Drake, Air Force, and Loyola Chicago. Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball
The Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team is part of the University of Iowa athletics department. The Hawkeyes have played in 28 NCAA Tournaments, eight NIT Tournaments, won eight Big Ten regular-season conference championships and won the Big Ten tournament three times. Iowa has played in the Final Four on three occasions, reaching the semifinals in 1955 and 1980 and playing in the championship game against the University of San Francisco in 1956. Iowa basketball was widely successful in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s with a program resurgence under Lute Olson and the tenures of George Raveling and Tom Davis. Under Olson, the Hawkeyes won their last Big Ten regular season championship and went to the 1980 Final Four. Loyola Ramblers Men's Basketball
The Loyola Ramblers men's basketball team represents Loyola University Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. The Ramblers participate as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Ramblers joined the Missouri Valley Conference from 2013 to 2022, ending a 34-season tenure as charter members of the Horizon League. The 2022–23 Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team represented the University of Iowa during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
