Anthony Pawson
Anthony James Pawson (18 October 1952 – 7 August 2013) was a British-born Canadian scientist whose research revolutionised the understanding of signal transduction, the molecular mechanisms by which cells respond to external cues, and how they communicate with each other. He identified the phosphotyrosine-binding Src homology 2 (SH2 domain) as the prototypic non-catalytic interaction module. SH2 domains serve as a model for a large family of protein modules that act together to control many aspects of cellular signalling. Since the discovery of SH2 domains, hundreds of different modules have been identified in many proteins. Craig Pawson (born 2 March 1979) is an English professional football referee who officiates primarily in the Premier League, having been promoted to the panel of Select Group Referees in 2013, as well as in the Football League. He is based in South Yorkshire and is associated with the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association. Career Pawson has been a referee since 1993 and regularly officiated in the Football League in the 2012–13 season. He appeared 12 times in the Championship as well as making a Wembley appearance, taking charge of the League 2 play-off final between Crewe Alexandra and Cheltenham Town, which saw the former promoted. John David Pawson (25 February 1930 – 21 May 2020) was an evangelical minister, writer and prominent Bible teacher based in the United Kingdom. Biography According to his autobiography, Pawson's immediate ancestors were all farmers, Methodist preachers or both, dating back to John Pawson, a friend and follower of John Wesley. His father, Henry Cecil Pawson FRSE (1897–1978), was head of Agriculture at Durham University and Vice President of the Methodist conference. Guy Pawson
Albert Guy Pawson (30 May 1888 – 25 February 1986) was a British colonial administrator who incidentally happened to play a few first-class cricket games while at university. He was educated at Winchester College and Christ Church, Oxford, and most of his matches were for the Oxford University cricket side, but he did make one appearance in county cricket, playing for Worcestershire against Oxford in 1908. He also had one game for a combined Oxford and Cambridge Universities team. He made his first-class debut for Oxford against the Gentlemen of England at The University Parks in May 1908. Pawson played a number of times for Oxford during the following three seasons. His final appearance was in the Varsity Match against Cambridge at Lord's in July 1911. Iris Veronica, Lady Wedgwood, (née Pawson; 1887 – 17 February 1982) was a British author of novels and non-fiction works on the topography and history of England. Life Iris Wedgwood was the daughter of Albert Henry Pawson (1850–1935) of Farnley, Leeds, a fellow of the Linnean Society of London and the son of William Pawson who had been the Mayor of Leeds in 1841. Henry Anthony Pawson (22 August 1921 – 12 October 2012) was an English sportsman who played cricket and association football and was a leading fly fisherman. He worked as a cricket writer and journalist. He was the son of Guy Pawson, and father of scientist Anthony Pawson. Biography Pawson was born at Chertsey in Surrey and educated at Winchester College and Christ Church, Oxford. During the Second World War he served in the Rifle Brigade, reaching the rank of Major and seeing active service in Italy and Tunisia, being mentioned in despatches.
