Pavel Suzor
Count Pavel Yulievich Suzor (russian: Павел Юльевич Сюзор, French: Paul-Jules Persin comte Suzor, gw.geneanet.org 1844–1919) was a Russian architect, president of the Architects Society, and count. Biography Count Paul-Jules de Persin-Suzor was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russian Empire, to a French political immigrant and nobleman, Count Jean Baptiste Jules de Persin-Suzor (1801-1889) and Marie Laurence Stéphanie de Livio. His great-grandfather, a French nobleman Jean Baptiste Persin Dubois, married Countess Elizabeth de Suzur and received the comital title through that marriage. Suzor graduated from the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts in 1866. He started to work for the city council in 1873, and in 1883 he started to teach at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineering. Suzor practiced Eclecticism and Art Nouveau in his designs. Alexander Pavlovich Brullov (, spelled Brulleau until 1822, when the family name was changed according to Russian pronunciation, sometimes also spelled Brulloff; 29 November 1798 – 9 January 1877) was a Russian artist associated with Russian Neoclassicism. Early life Alexander Brullov was born in Saint Petersburg into a family of French artists: his great-grandfather, his grandfather, his father and his brothers (including Karl Brullov) were artists. His first teacher was his father Paul. He attended the Imperial Academy of Arts architecture class from 1810 to 1820, and graduated with honors. Along with his brother, Karl, he was sent to Europe to study art and architecture with a stipend from the Society for the Promotion of Artists. Singer House
Singer House (russian: Дом компании «Зингер»), also widely known as the House of the Book (russian: Дом книги), is a historic building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is located at the intersection of Nevsky Prospekt and the Griboyedov Canal, directly opposite the Kazan Cathedral. It is recognized as a historical landmark and has official status as an object of Russian cultural heritage. The building was constructed in 1902–1904 by the leading Petersburg architect of the time, Pavel Suzor, for the Russian headquarters of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. After the Russian Revolution the house was nationalized and since 1919 used for offices of the editors' houses of various magazines and publishers. Alexei Yegorovich Badayev (russian: Алексе́й Его́рович Бада́ев; – 3 November 1951) was a Soviet politician, functionary and a nominal head of state of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic during the leadership of Joseph Stalin.
