Pauline Lefèvre-Utile
Pauline Isabelle Lefèvre-Utile () (30 June 1830 – 5 April 1922) founded the Lefèvre Utile (LU) company with her husband Jean-Romain Lefèvre in 1854. Early life and marriage Pauline Isabelle Utile was born on 30 June 1830 in Marle, in the department of Aisne, to Catherine Marie Adélaide (née Picart) (1798-1879) and Jean Baptiste Désiré Utile (1792-?1858), a mounted gendarme and later an annuitant following an inheritance. At the age of sixteen, her parents sent her to live with two of her aunts in Varennes-en-Argonne and work as a demoiselle de boutique (shop girl). This practice developed in the 19th century and enabled women to find work and build up their own dowries. This work enabled her to acquire the experience, skills and part of the finances that were to play a decisive role in the foundation of the LU biscuit empire. Hippolyte-Dominique Berteaux (28 March 1843, Saint-Quentin, Aisne - 17 October 1926, Paris) was a French painter who specialized in murals and portraits. Biography He studied painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, where he worked in the studios of Hippolyte Flandrin, Léon Cogniet and Paul Baudry. From 1872 to 1875, he was employed as "Painter to the Sultan" in Istanbul. He then moved to Nantes, where he created portraits, Genre art, genre scenes and landscapes; with the local dunes being a favorite subject. He also devoted himself to decorative painting. Lycée Georges Clemenceau (Nantes)
The Lycée Georges Clemenceau, , usually called Lycée Clemenceau is a public secondary school located in Nantes, France, formerly known as the Lycée of Nantes. Inaugurated in 1808, it is the oldest secondary school of the town of Nantes and in the department of Loire-Atlantique. It offers both a sixth-form college curriculum (as a lycée), and a post-secondary-level curriculum (classes préparatoires). It is located next to a botanic garden (Jardin des plantes). Train and tram stations offer an easy access to the school for students. Furthermore there is a lovely chapel inside. The Emperor Napoleon visited the Lycée on 9 August 1808.
