Paulette Noizeux
Paulette Noizeux (born Marie-Paule Cœuré; 30 May 1887 – 9 April 1971) was a French stage and film actress who began her career on the stages of France and New York in the 1910s. Her career spanned sixty years. Noizeux was born in Saint-Omer, Pas-de-Calais, France. She made her film debut in the 1911 Abel Gance-directed film short ''La Digue'', opposite actors Jean Renoir and Jean Toulout. The film is notable for being Gance's directoral debut. Saint-Omer
Saint-Omer (; vls, Sint-Omaars) is a commune and sub-prefecture of the Pas-de-Calais department in France. It is west-northwest of Lille on the railway to Calais, and is located in the Artois province. The town is named after Saint Audomar, who brought Christianity to the area. The canalised section of the river Aa begins at Saint-Omer, reaching the North Sea at Gravelines in northern France. Below its walls, the Aa connects with the Neufossé Canal, which ends at the river Lys. ''Lady Killer'' (french: Gueule d'amour) is a 1937 French drama film directed by Jean Grémillon and starring Jean Gabin, Mireille Balin and Marguerite Deval. It has been classified as both a film noir and an entry into the poetic realist group of films of the late 1930s. It was produced by the German company UFA in conjunction with its own French subsidiary ACE. Like '' Port of Shadows'' it drew on the tradition of German expressionism in its lighting and set design, although the Nazi authorities were opposed to the expressionist style. It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin and on location around Cannes, Orange and Paris. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Hermann Asmus and Max Mellin. The film was selected for screening as part of the Cannes Classics section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
