Paul Zadro
Paul Zadro (born 15 March 1963, at Innisfail, in Northern Queensland), is an Australian martial artist, sport administrator and promoter. He is currently the chairman of the International Sports Karate Association in Australia and an 8th Degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate. Background Zadro started boxing under Jimmy Sharman in 1972 at Mareeba, North Queensland, and he trained in Judo under the Kodokan Judo Association from 1973 to 1975. After moving to Sydney with his family, he studied Tae Kwon Do from 1975 to 1979 at the Marconi Club in Bossley Park, and attained the rank of Junior Black Belt. In 1979 he went on to study Ken Sei Kan Karate Do and continued on until 1981 at Greystanes, Sydney where he attained the rank of Shodan (first degree black belt). From 1979 to 1983 he also studied Koshu Kempo under Tony Lucisano at Bossley Park, Sydney and he also attained the rank of Shodan in that art. ISKA
The ISKA (originally International Sport Karate Association, later also called the International Sport Kickboxing Association) is one of the major international bodies regulating sport karate and kickboxing matches, and is based in the United States. It was established in 1985 as a response to legal and revenue issues that sent the Professional Karate Association (PKA) into decline. Jimmy Sharman
James Sharman (20 June 1887 – 18 November 1965) was an Australian boxing troupe and entertainment impresario. His son also worked with him and took over for his father in 1955 after playing as a professional rugby league footballer. Biography Sharman was born in Narellan, New South Wales, the fifth of thirteen children to James Sharman and Caroline Brailsfield, he established a boxing tent in 1911 at Ardlethan near Temora. The tent visited 45 to 50 shows each year. His son, Jimmy Sharman Jr, took over the business in 1955. The tent formed part of the Australian Show landscape until 1971, when regulations barred boxers fighting more than once a week. Mareeba is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Mareeba in Far North Queensland, Australia. Between 2008 and 2013, it was within the Tablelands Region. The , or ''Kōdōkan'' (講道館), is the headquarters of the worldwide judo community. The ''kōdōkan'' was founded in 1882 by Kanō Jigorō, the founder of judo, and is now an eight-story building in Tokyo. Etymology Literally, ''kō'' (講) means "to lecture", ''dō'' (道) means "way," and ''kan'' (館) is "a public building". Together it can be translated as "a place for the study of the way." Kenpō
is the name of several arts. The word kenpō is a Japanese translation of the Chinese word "''quánfǎ''". This term is often informally transliterated as "kempo", as a result of applying Traditional Hepburn romanization, but failing to use a macron to indicate the long vowel. The generic nature of the term combined with its widespread, cross-cultural adoption in the martial arts community has led to many divergent definitions. The word Kenpō translates thus: "''Ken''" meaning 'Fist' and "''Po''" meaning 'Method' or 'Law' as in 'Law of gravity', a correct interpretation of the word Kenpō would be 'Fist Method', the same meaning as 'Quanfa'. Anthony Perosh
Anthony Perosh (born 5 October 1972) is a retired Australian professional mixed martial artist who competed in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Background Perosh was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and is of Croatian descent, as both of his parents are Croatian immigrants. Perosh began training in martial arts while doing security work to help pay for college tuition. The training would help him in working security and he began his training in 1995 with Paul Zadro, when he was 23 years old. This original training was in Kempo Karate and Muay Thai, before he learned about Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 1997 Perosh moved to Dallas, Texas to train with Carlos Machado (A World BJJ Champion) for over two years. In 2003, Machado presented Perosh with a black belt in Machado Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Peter Graham (fighter)
Peter Graham (born 5 August 1975) is an Australian karateka, kickboxer, boxer and mixed martial artist. Background Originally from North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Graham began training in Kyokushin Karate at the age of 18. Graham quickly demonstrated his talents, winning his first tournament in an under yellow belt division about half a year later. In 1999 at the age of 23, Graham won the Amateur Australian and New Zealand Open Weight Championships and soon also became the South Pacific Champion. Graham then moved to Ikebukuro in Tokyo, Japan to further hone his skills and live in a dojo. However, Graham only completed three months of this rigorous training before having to return to Australia after his brother Matthew died of a heroin overdose.
