Paul Ryan (hurler)
Paul Ryan (born 3 November 1988) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-forward for the Dublin senior team. Born in Dublin, Ryan first played competitive hurling with the combined Dublin Colleges team, winning an All-Ireland medal in 2006. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Ballyboden St Enda's club, winning a minor championship medal in 2006. Ryan subsequently joined the Ballyboden St Enda's senior team and has since won six county senior championship medals. Ryan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he was selected for the Dublin minor team. He enjoyed one unsuccessful championship season with the minor team. He subsequently joined the Dublin under-21 team. Ryan made his senior debut during the 2008 league and has since become a regular member of the team, winning Leinster and National League medals. The 2006 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 76th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 1 April 2006 and ended on 3 September 2006 Galway entered the championship as the defending champions in search of a third successive title. On 3 September 2006 Tipperary won the championship following a 2-18 to 2-07 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. This was their 17th All-Ireland title overall and their first title since 1996. Ballyhale Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Ballyhale in County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1972 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Ballyhale Shamrocks are the most successful club in the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship with eight titles. Hurling History Beginnings Gaelic Games had been played in the parish of Ballyhale long before the Shamrocks club was established. By the early 1970s there were two competing clubs in existence in the parish, Ballyhale and Knocktopher, however, they were both facing extinction. Lucan Sarsfields GAA
Lucan Sarsfields (Irish: ''Sáirséalaigh Leamhcáin'' ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lucan, Dublin, Ireland. It was founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest GAA clubs in Dublin. Sarsfields were one of 16 teams which contested the Dublin Senior Championship in 1887. They were also involved in the Senior Championship of 1892, and the club has fielded Gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams ever since. Early success Lucan won the Intermediate Football League in the 1904–05 season. It is reported that they did this with the help of five players from Balbriggan. The story goes that in 1902 a team call Balbriggan Wanderers won the Intermediate League and then for some reason or other went out of existence in 1904. O'Tooles GAC (Irish: ''Cumann Uí Thuathail'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ayrfield, Dublin, Ireland, formed in 1901. History Early years O'Tooles GAC was formed in 1901 at 100 Seville Place in the north inner city of Dublin from the Gaelic League branch. The Gaelic League branch held their inaugural meeting in February 1901. Francis Cahill was one of the founding members of the club and Brother J.A. O’Mahoney, who was superior of O'Connell School was elected as the first president. On Thursday 8 October 1901, after Irish classes the clubs first hurling team was formed. Kilmacud Crokes ( ir, Cill Mochuda Na Crócaigh) is a large Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Stillorgan, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. Background Kilmacud GAA club was formed in 1959 following a historic public meeting in Saint Laurence's Hall, where Stillorgan shopping centre now stands. The first meeting of the club took place on 12 March 1959. Sixty people attended the meeting and donated a shilling each, meaning the club made IR£3.30 on the night. The club decided to use green-and-white jerseys, but they later decided to use the gold-and-purple colours, some say because of the local school Scoil Lorcain Naofa who also use gold and purple, others say it was because blue are the colours of the crocus.
