Paul Mauffray
Paul Mauffray is an American conductor and laureat of the 2007 Bartók International Opera Conducting Competition, The American Prize for Conductors, and 1996 Freedman Conducting Competition. He has studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Louisiana State University, Justus Liebig University (Giessen), Masaryk University (Brno), and earned a Masters of Music degree in Orchestra Conducting as an Associate Instructor / Assistant Conductor at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. He has been engaged in the Czech Republic at the Prague National Theater and National Theater in Brno, and he has worked as assistant conductor to Sir Charles Mackerras with the Czech Philharmonic on recordings of Leoš Janáček's '' Kata Kabanova'' and Antonín Dvořák's ''Rusalka''. The Romanian National Opera, Bucharest ( ro, Opera Națională București) is one of the four national opera and ballet companies of Romania. The company is headquartered in Bucharest, near the Cotroceni neighbourhood. History In 1877, Romanian government regulation stipulated the formation of an opera company under the auspices of the Romanian National Theatre. Chattanooga Symphony And Opera
The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, also known as CSO, is a combined symphony orchestra and opera company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At the time of the merger in 1985, it was the only such combined organization in the United States. The CSO also offers several youth programs; the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Youth Orchestra (CSOYO). The CSOYO has four groups; Prelude, Etude, Philharmonic, and Symphony. The Prelude and Etude groups are strings only, and are targeted towards beginners Elementary and Middle School aged. Prelude and Etude are conducted by Cellist, Amy Shannon. Burlesque Opera Of Tabasco
Originally performed in 1894, the ''Burlesque Opera of Tabasco'' (also sometimes rendered ''Burlesque Opera Tabasco'') is a musical comedy composed by George W. Chadwick with a libretto by R. A. Barnet. At first titled ''Tabasco'', the opera was created without the knowledge of McIlhenny Company, maker of Tabasco brand pepper sauce since 1868. The company, however, subsequently approved its performance. The opera went on to tour the U.S. to critical acclaim, but disagreements between Chadwick and the musical's producer eventually derailed its success. Origin A Boston volunteer militia, the First Corps of Cadets, commissioned Chadwick and Barnet to create the opera as a fundraiser for a new armory. George Whitefield Chadwick (November 13, 1854 – April 4, 1931) was an American composer. Along with John Knowles Paine, Horatio Parker, Amy Beach, Arthur Foote, and Edward MacDowell, he was a representative composer of what is called the Second New England School of American composers of the late 19th century—the generation before Charles Ives. Chadwick's works are influenced by the Realist movement in the arts, characterized by a down-to-earth depiction of people's lives. His works included several operas, three symphonies, five string quartets, tone poems, incidental music, songs and choral anthems. Fredric Joseph Kroll (born February 7, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American-German composer and writer. He was born in 1945 as the only child of the piano teacher and schoolteacher Alexander Kroll, born in New York as the fourth child of White Russian Jewish immigrants, and the elementary school teacher Sarah Kroll, née Mahler, born in Warsaw. At the age of eleven, he began to compose a cycle of 30 piano pieces in all tonalities, including the enharmonic relationships, to explore the potentials of each tonality to express different emotions.
