Paul Marquess
Paul Marquess (born 23 June 1964) is a television producer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. His credits include '' Brookside'', ''The Bill'', ''Family Affairs'', ''Hollyoaks'', ''Crime Stories'', '' Suspects'' and '' Hope Street''. He also originated the idea for the series ''Footballers' Wives''. He currently holds the post of managing director of Newman Street, a label of Fremantlemedia. TV career Early stages Marquess began his career in 1996, as a storyliner on ''Coronation Street'', before developing and producing various other dramas for Granada television including '' Revelations'' from 1996, and '' Springhill'' in 1997. In 1999, he landed a job as series producer on '' Brookside'', working alongside Phil Redmond. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). Crime Stories (British TV Series)
''Crime Stories'' is a British television crime drama series that aired on ITV from 12 November until 7 December 2012. Described as "groundbreaking" television, the series was one of a number of series developed by Paul Marquess which makes use of a documentary-style feel and unscripted dialogue. The series was panned by critics and viewers alike and was axed by ITV after just one series. The series made use of the set previously occupied by fellow ITV drama ''The Bill'', for which Marquess served as executive producer from 2002–2005. The series starred Jane Antrobus, a former real-life chief superintendent, and Ben Hull, as protagonists Jane Preston and Ben Shaw. The Only Way Is Essex
''The Only Way Is Essex'' (often abbreviated as ''TOWIE'' ) is a British reality television series based in Brentwood, Essex, England. It shows "real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way." Originally broadcast on ITV2 from 2010, the series was moved to ITVBe in October 2014. The first series consisted of 10 episodes and ran for 30 minutes, with a Christmas special following later in the year. Due to popularity, the runtime was extended to 45-minute episodes and renewed for a year's airing. On 22 May 2011, the series won the Audience Award at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. Brendan Brady is a Character (arts), fictional character from the Television in the United Kingdom, British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Emmett J. Scanlan. The character was introduced on 5 August 2010 by series producer Paul Marquess during part of the show's overhaul, and became one of ''Hollyoaks'' most popular characters. He is easily recognised by his famous horseshoe moustache. He is the older half-brother of already established character Cheryl Brady (Bronagh Waugh). Following the announcement of Brendan's casting, he was quickly billed as the show's new "bad boy" character.
