Paul Hyland (boxer)
Paul Hyland, (born 19 November 1984 in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish professional boxer. Hyland is a two-time Irish Professional Super Bantamweight Champion and European Union Champion. Hyland also boxed World Title Challenger Willie Casey for the EBU (European) Title. Professional career Début Hyland turned professional on 5 November 2004 in Hereford Leisure Centre, England on an undercard of bill that included Jason Cook, Jason McKay and Scott Gammer. In his début Hyland defeated fellow débutant Hungarian Janos Garai with a second-round TKO knockout. Super Bantamweight
Super bantamweight, also known as junior featherweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . There were attempts by boxing promoters in the 1920s to establish this weight class, but few sanctioning organizations or state athletic commissions would recognize it. Jack Wolf won recognition as champion when he beat Joe Lynch at Madison Square Garden on September 21, 1922, but afterwards the weight division fell into disuse. The division was revived in the 1970s and the first title fight in 54 years in the division took place in 1976 when the World Boxing Council recognized Rigoberto Riasco as its champion when he defeated Waruinge Nakayama in eight rounds. The World Boxing Association crowned its first champion in 1977 when Soo Hwan Hong knocked out Hector Carasquilla in three rounds to win the inaugural WBA championship. Scott Gammer
Scott Gammer (born 24 October 1976) is a Welsh former professional boxer who competed from 2002 to 2009. He held the British heavyweight title from 2006 to 2007 and challenged once for the lesser European Union heavyweight title in 2008. Biography Professional career Gammer turned professional in 2002 and is currently trained by his father Ralph Gammer and managed by Paul Boyce. On 16 June 2006, after 16 professional fights undefeated, he earned the right to challenge Mark Krence for the British Heavyweight Title. Gammer won in the 9th round via TKO. In his first defence of the title on 13 October 2006 he defeated Micky Steeds by a unanimous points decision. Steeds was brought in as a replacement for Danny Williams, who was the mandatory challenger for the British Heavyweight Championship at the time, however he pulled out of the fight due to the date coinciding with Ramadan. A knockout (abbreviated to KO or K.O.) is a fight-ending, winning criterion in several full-contact combat sports, such as boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, mixed martial arts, karate, some forms of taekwondo and other sports involving striking, as well as fighting-based video games. A full knockout is considered any legal strike or combination thereof that renders an opponent unable to continue fighting. Jason McKay (born 11 October 1977 in Craigavon, Northern Ireland) is a professional boxer from Banbridge, County Down, fighting out of Belfast. McKay fights at super middleweight and is the former Irish light heavyweight champion. Amateur career At an amateur level, McKay defeated John Duddy to become Ulster senior light middleweight champion. Professional career McKay turned professional in February 2002 in Glasgow, Scotland.
