Paul Howard (journalist)
Paul Howard (born 6 January 1971) is an Irish journalist, author and comedy writer. He is best known as the creator of the cult character Ross O'Carroll-Kelly, a fictional Dublin 4 "rugby jock". Life Howard was born 6 January 1971 in London. He worked for sixteen years as a journalist, mostly for ''The Sunday Tribune'', first in news and later as one of Ireland's most respected sportswriters. He was chief sportswriter of ''The Sunday Tribune'' and one of the first to question the achievements of Michelle Smith de Bruin. He covered two Olympics, a World Cup and numerous major sporting events. He was named Sports Journalist of the Year in the 1998 Irish Media Awards for an investigation into eating disorders among Irish athletes and an interview with the disgraced former sprinter, Ben Johnson. Copper Face Jacks is a nightclub in Dublin, Ireland that opened in 1996. It is located on Harcourt Street, below the 36-room Jackson Court Hotel. It is known for its popularity among people from rural Ireland working in the city, including teachers, nurses, Gardaí and Gaelic games players. The club has six bars, two beer gardens and a VIP area, and employs 173 staff. History Copper Face Jacks opened on 16 February 1996 and is owned by former Garda Cathal Jackson. It takes its name from John Scott, 1st Earl of Clonmell, a heavy-drinking 18th-century judge nicknamed "Copperfaced Jack" who lived on Harcourt Street. The Mario Rosenstock Show is an Irish topical sketch comedy show that first aired on RTÉ Two television in Ireland on 12 November 2012. The show features Mario Rosenstock's performing as characters from the world of sports, politics and entertainment. A second series of the show had been confirmed in December 2012. ''Irish Pictorial Weekly'' is an Irish satirical television series which was broadcast on Raidió Teilifís Éireann starting in November 2012. Series 2 of the show started on 21 November 2013 and was renewed for a third season which began airing on 22 March 2015. ''Downturn Abbey'' is a 2013 novel by Irish journalist and author Paul Howard and the thirteenth in the Ross O'Carroll-Kelly series. The title is a reference to ''Downton Abbey'' and the ongoing economic downturn. Plot Ross becomes a grandfather and his teenage son Ronan becomes a father. Honor is dropped from one of Fionnuala's Hallmark Channel films and is expelled from school. Charles and Fionnuala's divorce comes through. Sorcha throws a ''Downton Abbey''-themed party. Ronan falls in with a local gangster. Fionnuala moves into "mommy porn" with ''Fifty Greys in Shades'', and begins a relationship with Oisinn. Gordon D'Arcy
Gordon William D'Arcy (born 10 February 1980, in Ferns, County Wexford) is a retired Irish rugby player who played most of his career at inside centre. He played for Irish provincial side Leinster for his entire professional career and is second on the record list for most Leinster appearances at 257, behind Devon Toner and is third on the all time Leinster try list with 60. Tara Browne (4 March 1945 – 18 December 1966) was a London-based Irish socialite and heir to the Guinness fortune. His December 1966 death in a car crash was an inspiration for the Beatles' song " A Day in the Life".
