Paul Heeren
Paul Heeren (born 22 November 1954 in Adelaide Australia) is a guitarist and songwriter. Music Paul Heeren was a member of the 1990s band The Times, led by Ed Ball, playing guitar and providing occasional backing vocals. During this period he also guested with Ed Ball bands Conspiracy of Noise and Teenage Filmstars. Having gained local exposure via the ABC (Australia) with progressive rock band Montage, Heeren moved to London where he worked as a session guitar player, eventually meeting Ed Ball when brought in to guest on 'E For Edward'. He continued to be involved with The Times throughout the 90s, performing with an unplugged version of band for the 1994 Creation Records 10th Anniversary concert at the Albert Hall. He also appeared with the Times on Gary Crowley's ITV music show 'The Beat'. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). Gary Wallis is a British drummer, percussionist, drum programmer, producer and musical director. He has worked with a wide range of artists and bands, including Nik Kershaw, Pink Floyd, 10cc, Il Divo, Westlife, Girls Aloud, Atomic Kitten, Paul Carrack, Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Tyler, Mike Rutherford, Mike + The Mechanics, Spice Girls, All Saints, Tom Jones, Jean Michel Jarre, Helene Fischer and Schiller. Emma (born Emma Louise Booth, 2 August 1974) is a Welsh singer, who sang the UK entry, "Give a Little Love Back to the World", in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990. This was the third of four entries representing the UK composed by Paul Curtis. The song finished sixth in the Contest, and climbed to No. 33 in the UK Singles Chart. Her backing vocalists at Eurovision 1990 included Sam Blue and Miriam Stockley. Biography Emma was born in Bridgend, Wales. At fifteen, she was the youngest singer to have represented the UK in the contest and only narrowly made the newly implemented age rule in the competition, where all contestants must be 16 in the year they compete. The song had an environmental theme. Many of the 1990 entries chose the momentous events taking place across Europe in the previous twelve months and European Unity as their theme. "Give a Little Love Back to the World", written and composed by Paul Curtis, was the 's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1990, performed by Emma. At the age of 15, Emma was the youngest-ever entrant on behalf of the United Kingdom at Eurovision. Selection process Emma won the right to perform at the contest, held in Zagreb by winning the UK national final, ''A Song for Europe'', where she was the fourth singer to perform. The Eurovision Song Contest 1990 was the 35th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Zagreb, SR Croatia, Yugoslavia, following the country's victory at the with the song " Rock Me" by Riva. It was the only time Yugoslavia hosted the contest. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcasters Yugoslav Radio Television (JRT) and Radiotelevision Zagreb (RTZ), the contest was held at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on 5 May 1990 and was hosted by Croatian television presenters Helga Vlahović and Oliver Mlakar. Dive Bomb (guitar Technique)
Dive bomb is a guitar technique in which the tremolo bar, or whammy bar is used to rapidly lower the pitch of a note, creating a sound considered to be similar to a bomb dropping. One of the most recognized pioneers of this technique is Jimi Hendrix. Other musicians who used this technique are Dave Murray, Herman Li, Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Joe Satriani and Tom Scholz of Boston. Some guitarists, such as K.K. Downing, Glenn Tipton, Jeff Hanneman and Dimebag Darrell have used a variation of this technique in which a harmonic, most commonly a pinch harmonic, is used instead of a normal fretted or open note creating a sound arguably closer to that of a bomb due to the squealing sound created by the harmonic. "Blue Monday" is a song by English rock band New Order. It was released as a 12-inch single on 7 March 1983 through Factory Records. The song appears on certain cassette and CD versions of the band's second studio album, ''Power, Corruption & Lies'' (1983).
