Paul Guilfoyle (actor Born In 1902)
Paul Guilfoyle (July 14, 1902 – June 27, 1961) was an American stage, film and television actor. Later in his career, he also directed films and television episodes. Guilfoyle was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He started off working on stage, performing on Broadway theatre, Broadway in 16 plays according to the Internet Broadway Database, beginning with ''The Jolly Roger'' and ''Cyrano de Bergerac (play), Cyrano de Bergerac'' in 1923 and ending with ''Jayhawker'' in 1934. He appeared in many films that starred Lee Tracy in the 1930s. In the 1949 crime film ''White Heat'', he played (uncredited) a treacherous prison inmate murdered in cold blood by James Cagney's lead character. He died of a Myocardial infarction, heart attack on June 27, 1961 in Hollywood. He had a son, Anthony. Plot summary The publisher of The Tribune newspaper, Henry Kruger, who is used to ordering his staff around, finds that he is ignored by everyone in his own home. He is shocked when he discovers a scandalous picture of his own daughter, Phyllis, on the front page of the competing paper, The Daily Argus. Henry pays a visit to the dubious publisher of the competing paper, Andy McDonald, and warns him not to ever publish a picture like that again, or Henry will kill him. Henry is unaware of the fact that a man named "Slippery" Joe Clary has overheard his conversation with Andy, which Joe later reveals to him, threatening to expose him. Berman, he hired as his associate producer, Joseph Ermolieff. Actor Burgess Meredith made his credited film debut as the avenging son Rio Romagna. The film greatly changes the ending of the play, in which the lovers Mio and Miriamne are shot to death by gangsters.
