Paul Finlay
Paul Finlay is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Ballybay Pearse Brothers. He played at senior level for the Monaghan county team between 2002 and 2016. Finlay is the son of former Monaghan footballer Kieran "Jap" Finlay. He won an All-Ireland title with the Monaghan Vocational Schools and played a role in Sligo IT's Sigerson Cup win in 2002. He has also won Minor and Intermediate medals with Ballybay Pearses. Finlay was first selected for the Monaghan senior team in 2003. He was regarded as the team's playmaker and participated in their 2005 National Football League Division Two win, Monaghan's first national title in twenty years. In 2008 Finlay was called up to the Ireland international rules football team as a replacement for Tommy Walsh of Kerry. Monaghan ( ; ) is the county town of County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It also provides the name of its Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish and Monaghan (barony), barony. The population of the town as of the 2016 census was 7,678. The town is on the N2 road (Ireland), N2 road from Dublin to Derry and Letterkenny. Tommy Walsh (born 26 February 1988) is an Irish sportsman who has played at the top level of Gaelic football and Australian rules football. The son of former Kerry Gaelic footballer Seán Walsh, he has played Gaelic football for the Kerins O'Rahilly's club and at senior level for the Kerry county team. 2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship
The 2013 Ulster Senior Football Championship was the 125th installment of the annual Ulster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of the Ulster GAA. Donegal were the defending Ulster and All-Ireland champions and were aiming for their third consecutive provincial title. The final of the competition was contested by two teams from south of the border for the first time since 1983. This was confirmed when Donegal defeated Down in the first semi-final, with the second semi-final between Monaghan and Cavan still to play. Monaghan won that semi-final and went on to win their first Ulster title in 25 years when they overcame Donegal on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-7 in Clones. Ulster Senior Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Football Championship is an inter-county competition for Gaelic football teams in the province of Ulster. It is organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and begins in early May. The final is usually played on the third Sunday in July. All nine Ulster counties participate. It is regarded as hardest to win of the four provincial football championships. At a referee conference in January 2015, David Coldrick said about officiating in the competition: "Ulster makes or breaks you. It can be a graveyard. The games are different. There is an extra dimension and intensity, and you must be at your best. If you aren't prepared physically and mentally, the chances are you will be caught out. The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland.
