Paul Failla
Paul J. Failla (born December 8, 1972) is a former American football and baseball player and coach. College career Failla was recruited out of North Allegheny Senior High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania by the University of Notre Dame, where he was a two-sport athlete, playing shortstop for the baseball team, and backing up starting quarterbacks Rick Mirer and Kevin McDougal on the football team for three years, from 1991–1993. In 1992, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League. When it became clear that he would not win the starting quarterback job in 1994, he entered the Major League Baseball Draft, and was selected by the California Angels in the third round. Boise Hawks
The Boise Hawks are an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB) but is an MLB Partner League. Home games are played at Memorial Stadium in Garden City, Idaho, a small city surrounded by Boise. Brewster Whitecaps
The Brewster Whitecaps are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Brewster, Massachusetts. The team is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and plays in the league's East Division. The Whitecaps play their home games at Stony Brook Field on the campus of Stony Brook Elementary School in Brewster. The Whitecaps most recently won the CCBL championship in 2021 when they defeated the Bourne Braves two games to none to win the best of three championship series. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues".
