Paul F Ruckert
Paul Ruckert (25 December 19134 March 2006) was an Australian film producer and cinematographer. He was active between 1930 and 1980 and produced a wide variety of short films and documentaries under the banner of Invincible Pictures. The films included comedies, travelogues, natural history documentaries and commercials. While not achieving huge financial success with his ventures his films were sold and distributed widely within Australia and overseas. In 1999 he was recognised for his lifelong contributions with a one-hour special by Ray Martin at the end of Channel 9's "Our Century" series, as he supplied a lot of historical footage for that program. Personal life and career He was born in Toowoomba on 25 December 1913 and spent his early childhood there until the family moved to East Brisbane in 1921. Emanuel Goldberg
Emanuel Goldberg ( he, עמנואל גולדברג; yi, עמנואל גאָלדבערג; russian: Эмануэль Гольдберг) (born: 31 August 1881; died: 13 September 1970) was an Israeli physicist and inventor. He was born in Moscow and moved first to Germany and later to Israel. He described himself as "a chemist by learning, physicist by calling, and a mechanic by birth." He contributed a wide range of theoretic and practical advances relating to light and media and was the founding head of Zeiss Ikon, the famous photographic products company in Dresden, Germany. His inventions include microdots, the Kinamo movie camera, the Contax 35 mm camera, a very early search engine, and equipment for sensitometry. National Film And Sound Archive
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984. Frederick Wills (cinematographer)
Frederick Charles Wills (14 November 1870 – 8 August 1955) was a pioneer of cinematography in Queensland, Australia, recording the first moving images of life in that state between 1899 and 1903. Personal life and career Frederick Wills was born in Devon, England, and came to Australia around 1889. He settled in Sydney and lived at Croydon working as an artist. He married in 1895 and moved to Queensland in 1897 where he was employed as an illustrator and photographer for Queensland Department of Agriculture. He worked there until 1903 and it was in this period that he was involved in pioneering cinematography in Queensland. After his resignation in 1903 he operated a photographic studio in George Street Brisbane for two years. Wills and his family then moved to Toowoomba where he started a photographic equipment business and photo studio in Ruthven Street. Griffith University
Griffith University is a public research university in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Formally founded in 1971, Griffith opened its doors in 1975, introducing Australia's first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies. Raymond George Martin Order of Australia, AM (né Grace, 20 December 1944) is an Australian television journalist and entertainment personality. Having won the Gold Logie five times, he is the most awarded star of Australian television, along with Graham Kennedy (although Kennedy won the ‘Star of the Year Award’, the forerunner of the Gold Logie in 1959).
