Paul Daly (bowls)
Paul Daly (born 28 March 1972) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler. Bowls career International Daly won a silver medal in the men's triples at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He also won a bronze medal in the triples and fours at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. National Championships Daly is an eight times Irish National Bowls Championships winner, including winning the singles title in 2011, bowling for Ulster Transport Bowls Club. His first title came in 1993 in the fours for Belmont BC and followed this up in 1996 when winning the triples in 1996, again for Belmont. Nine years later in 2005, he won the triples bowling for Ulster Transport BC. In 2011, he won the triples in addition to the singles. He later switched clubs moving back to the Belmont club. In 2022, he won his sixth national title when winning the fours at the Irish National Bowls Championships. Simon Matthew Martin (born 1976) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler. Bowls career International Martin was selected for the combined Irish team that competed in the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. He was part of the fours team with Martin McHugh, Neil Mulholland and Ian McClure that won a bronze medal in Christchurch. Two years later, he was selected as part of the Northern Ireland team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The Irish National Bowls Championships combines Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Traditionally the game was played mainly in Northern Ireland but the Kenilworth Bowling Club of Dublin joined the Irish Bowls Association in 1906 which prompted the merger into one team. With the exception of the Commonwealth Games players continue to represent a combined Ireland team. The singles championship is called the Dr Rusk Cup named after Dr John Rusk, President of the IBA and the singles representative player at the Lawn Bowls at the 1934 British Empire Games. The Pairs is called the T.W McMullan Cup, the Triples is known as the Charlie Clawson Cup and the Fours is known as the C.L MacKean Cup.
