Paul Curran (born 15 January 1961) is a former professional English racing cyclist from Thornaby, North Yorkshire. Curran rode for Great Britain in the Olympic Games, won the national road championship and won several medals at the Commonwealth Games. With wins in top amateur races in France, he could probably have secured a professional contract with a continental cycling team but preferred to remain in Britain. Cycling career Curran began riding for his local cycling club Stockton Wheelers and at the age of 14 completed a ten-mile time trial at Crathorne, North Yorkshire in 24–49. It was obvious he had talent when in 1977 he dominated the English schools national grass and track championship winning all three individual titles in the over-15-years category. Paul Curran (born 1964) is a Scottish opera director. He was General Manager (Artistic Director) of the opera company of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet (2007–2011), and artistic consultant to Central City Opera of Denver, Colorado. Early life Curran was born in Maryhill, Glasgow. At the age of five, he was rehoused with his family to Easterhouse. He played clarinet in the Glasgow Schools Orchestra, and saw his first opera (Scottish Opera's production of ''Wozzeck'') in 1980. The following year, his parents discovered that he was gay and threw him out. He went to London, where he trained as a ballet dancer at the London Studio Centre and the Central School of Ballet before studying with Sulamith Messerer. Paul Curran (born 5 October 1966) is a football manager and former player. He was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. On 26 November 2006, Curran was appointed the manager of Larne F.C. The Dundalk based former Larne captain had led the Inver Park side to the 2005 Irish Cup final and Premier Division safety that season. During a distinguished playing career, Curran played for periods of time with Ards F.C., Finn Harps F.C. and Derry City F.C. of the League of Ireland, where he was team captain and won the ''treble'' in 1988–1989, as well as playing for Dundalk F.C. He holds the record for the second-highest number of appearances for Derry City ever, a total of 518 appearances. His 500th appearance came in January 1999. Sir Paul James Curran (born 17 May 1955) was president of City, University of London between August 2010 and June 2021. Sir Paul is now professor emeritus. Following a period of significant progress, City joined the University of London Federation in September 2016. He served previously as vice-chancellor of Bournemouth University (2005–10) and deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Southampton, where he is currently a visiting professor. Paul Curran (hurler)
Paul Curran (born 11 November 1981) is an Irish hurler who played as a full-back for the Tipperary senior team. Born in Mullinahone, County Tipperary, Curran first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor teams as a dual player before later joining the under-21 hurling side. He joined the senior panel during the 2001 championship. Curran subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won one All-Ireland medal, four Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Curran won one Railway Cup medal.
