Paul Corkett
Paul Corkett is a British record producer, engineer and arranger. Biography Paul got his start as an engineer in the mid-1980s, engineering singles and albums for bands as varied as ABC, the Chameleons, Twelfth Night and the Heart Throbs. He landed his first big engineering gig in 1992, recording the single " China" for Tori Amos's debut album ''Little Earthquakes''. In 1994, he produced his first full album, the second album '' Fake'' by Adorable. His engineering work on the Cure's tenth album ''Wild Mood Swings'' led to him producing the band's next album, ''Bloodflowers'', released in 2000. After engineering Placebo's second album '' Without You I'm Nothing'', in 1999 Corkett was invited to produce the band's third album '' Black Market Music''. Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. The Cooper Temple Clause
The Cooper Temple Clause was an English alternative rock band, formed in Wokingham, Berkshire in 1998. The band released three albums before announcing their split on 24 April 2007, following the departure of Daniel Fisher. After signing a record deal with the RCA label in 2000 and putting out several singles and EPs, their debut album, ''See This Through and Leave'', was released in 2002 to critical acclaim. 2003's follow-up, '' Kick Up the Fire, and Let the Flames Break Loose'', achieved the band international recognition on the strength of the singles " Promises, Promises" and " Blind Pilots". The Cure are an English Rock music, rock band formed in 1978 in Crawley, Crawley, West Sussex. The Dandys were a British indie-pop act that formed in 1996, releasing their only album, ''Symphonic Screams'', on 15 June 1998. The album featured the singles "I Wanna Be Like You", "Dirty Weekend", "You Make Me Want To Scream" and "English Country Garden". Although from Leeds, Yorkshire, England, the band is more associated with the York music scene. Warm Jets were a British indie pop band, who had two UK top 40 singles and a top 40 album in 1998. The group's name derives from Brian Eno's 1973 album, ''Here Come the Warm Jets''. History The band was formed in 1995 by Louis Jones, Paul Noble (formerly of Eat) and Ed Grimshaw, and signed to This Way Up records in early 1996. Strangelove (band)
Strangelove were an English alternative rock band, formed in Bristol in 1991 comprising singer Patrick Duff, guitarists Alex Lee & Julian Poole, bassist Joe Allen and John Langley on drums. They released two EPs and three albums before disbanding in 1998. History Strangelove formed in Bristol, in 1991, after David Francolini (drums, of Levitation) spotted singer Patrick Duff, who at the time was a street busker. According to Duff, Francolini's words were "Get in the car, you're going to be a pop star." Francolini then got together various musicians he knew throughout the area; Alex Lee (guitar, formerly of The Blue Aeroplanes), Julian Pransky Poole (guitar, formerly part of The Jazz Butcher's band), and Joe Allen (bass guitar). With Francolini on drums, the quintet played their first gig at Bath Moles Club on 9 October 1991. Francolini took on the role of drummer for only two gigs, before being replaced by John Langley. Sleeper are an English rock band formed in London in 1992. The group had eight UK Top 40 hit singles and three UK Top 10 albums during the 1990s. Fiction Plane is a rock band consisting of lead vocalist and bass player Joe Sumner, guitarist Seton Daunt, and drummer Pete Wilhoit. History When Sumner was a teenager in England, he was inspired to write songs after he heard Nirvana's album ''Nevermind''. Sumner, having grown up around the music industry with his father Gordon “Sting” Sumner, already knew how to play guitar and drums, so he started a band with Dan Brown, a friend from school who played bass. Dionysos (French Band)
Dionysos is a French Rock music, rock band formed in 1993 in Valence, Drôme, Valence, Drôme; they formed at their lycée. They perform songs in both French and English, and have released six studio albums. They are well known in France for their surrealism and eccentricity. Their first album, ''Happening Songs'', was self-produced and with entirely English lyrics. With their second album ''The sun is blue like eggs in Winter'' (also self-produced) Babet became a member. Bath, Somerset
Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. The city became a World Heritage Site in 1987, and was later added to the transnational World Heritage Site known as the "Great Spa Towns of Europe" in 2021. Steve Hewitt
Steven James Hewitt (born 22 March 1971) is an English musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the frontman of his own band, Love Amongst Ruin. Hewitt is best known for his tenure as the drummer for Placebo between September 1996 and October 2007. He plays drums and guitar left-handed. Personal life and influences Hewitt was born in Northwich, Cheshire, England and attended Weaverham High School. Hewitt has a daughter and had a second child in early 2010. His elder daughter Emily performed backing vocals on ''Love Song'', the final track on Love Amongst Ruin's 2010 debut album.
