Paul Claudon
Paul Claudon (5 September 1919 – 5 July 2002) was a French film producer and actor. He produced 25 films between 1952 and 1998. He was a member of the jury at the 21st Berlin International Film Festival and the 1979 Cannes Film Festival. The 21st annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 26 June – 6 July 1971. The ''Young Filmmakers Forum'' (in 1987 renamed ''International Forum for New Cinema'') section was introduced at the festival. 1979 Cannes Film Festival
The 32nd Cannes Film Festival was held from 10 to 24 May 1979. The Palme d'Or went to ''Apocalypse Now'' by Francis Ford Coppola, which was screened as a work in progress, and '' Die Blechtrommel (The Tin Drum)'' by Volker Schlöndorff. The festival opened with ''Hair'', directed by Miloš Forman and closed with '' À nous deux'', directed by Claude Lelouch. Françoise Sagan, the President of the Jury raised a controversy as she complained that Robert Favre Le Bret, director of the Festival, had stepped out of his role and had put pressure on the jury for the choice of Coppola's film, while she had defended ''The Tin Drum'' to the last minute of the competition. ''Going Places'' is a 1974 French comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Bertrand Blier, and based on his own novel. Its original title is ''Les Valseuses'', which translates into English as "the waltzers" , a vulgar French slang term for "the testicles". It stars Miou-Miou, Gérard Depardieu and Patrick Dewaere. It is one of the most controversial films in French cinema due to its vulgarity, depiction of sexual acts, nudity and amorality. However, Blier's later acclaim for the rest of his filmography made it a cult film for modern critics.
