Paul Bennett (Canadian Football)
Paul Frederick Bennett (born March 27, 1954) is a former award-winning and all-star defensive back in the Canadian Football League and Grey Cup champion. He attended General Brock Public School and Satec at W.A.Porter Collegiate, W. A. Porter Collegiate Institute in Scarborough, Toronto, Scarborough, Ontario. As a high school football player Paul played defensive back and quarterback and was named a Toronto All Star in 1972. Offered a full football scholarship to the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri, he played on the Tigers freshman team in 1973. He was redshirt (college sports), redshirted on the varsity squad for his sophomore year. In 1974 Bennett returned to Canada and attended Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He played for WLU in 1975 and 1976, coached by Canadian Football Hall of Famer Tuffy Knight. He was protected by the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL draft. Paul Reginald Bennett (born 4 February 1952) is an English former footballer who played as a centre-back during the FA Cup run of Southampton in 1976, and also had spells at Reading and Aldershot. Early days Born in Southampton, Bennett attended Taunton's Grammar School in Southampton, before joining the ground staff at The Dell. Playing career Southampton Bennett signed amateur papers in July 1968, before moving up to become a professional in November 1969. He made his debut at home to Tottenham Hotspur on 22 April 1972, and was charged with marking Martin Chivers, who was a former Saints player and had coincidentally also attended Taunton's Grammar School. Bennett was a rugged no-nonsense sort of centre-half in the same mould as John McGrath, the man he followed into the senior side. Paul Bennett (born 30 January 1961) is an English former footballer who played in the Football League for Port Vale. Career Bennett was an Everton youth team player before joining Port Vale in September 1978. He made his debut as a substitute in a 1–1 draw with Peterborough United at London Road on 1 November 1980, and three weeks later he scored his first goal in a 4–2 win over Bradford City. He went on to play 26 Fourth Division games in the 1980–81 season, and scored his first goal in the Football League from the penalty spot in a 2–0 win over York City at Vale Park on 7 March. However, he then fell out of favour under manager John McGrath and played just four league games the following season and was given a free transfer in May 1982. He then moved on to Alliance Premier League club Northwich Victoria (in two spells), Telford United, Buxton (Northern Premier League) and Stalybridge Celtic. Paul Bennett (born 16 December 1988) is a British rower and Olympic gold medallist. Rowing career Bennett won the Boat Race in 2013 sitting at five for Oxford. He competed at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Bosbaan, Amsterdam, where he won a gold medal as part of the eight with Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell, Matthew Tarrant, Will Satch, Matt Gotrel, Pete Reed, Tom Ransley, Constantine Louloudis and Phelan Hill. The following year he was part of the British team that topped the medal table at the 2015 World Rowing Championships at Lac d'Aiguebelette in France, where he won a gold medal as part of the eight with Matt Gotrel, Louloudis, Reed, Moe Sbihi, Alex Gregory, George Nash, Satch and Hill. Vice Admiral Paul Martin Bennett, is a former senior Royal Navy officer. Naval career Educated at Newcastle University, Bennett joined the Royal Navy in 1985. He trained as a navigator before being given command the minehunter in 1998, the destroyer in 1999 and the destroyer in 2008. He became Commander Amphibious Task Group in May 2009, Commodore Naval Personnel Strategy in January 2011 and Director of the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre in February 2013. After that he became Chief of Staff at Joint Forces Command in September 2013 and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Capability) and Controller of the Navy in May 2016. Paul Arthur Bennett (March 22, 1897 – December 18, 1966) was an American typographer and author. Biography Paul Arthur Bennett was born in Brooklyn on March 22, 1897. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 19, near the end of World War I. He served overseas from November 1918 to June 1919. Bennett was director of typography for the Mergenthaler Linotype Company in the USA for 30 years before his retirement in 1962. Other clients included Fuller-Smith, Dunlop-Ward, the Chandler Motor Company. He wrote several papers, monographs, and keepsakes for ''The Typophiles'', and also edited the book ''Books and Printing'' (1951). St Fagan's Church
St Fagan's Church ( cy, Eglwys Sain Ffagan) is a Grade II-listed Anglican church in the village of Trecynon near Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It was originally built in the mid-nineteenth century in the Gothic Revival style, but burned down a few years later and was rebuilt. History The church was designed by the architect Thomas Talbot Bury of London (a former pupil of A. W. N. Pugin) and built between 1851 and 1853 at a cost of £1,795. However, it burnt down on 12 January 1856 and had to be rebuilt at a cost of £5,000. Both of these costs were met by Lady Harriet Clive (by 1856 widowed and known as Harriet Windsor-Clive, Baroness Windsor) of St Fagans Castle near Cardiff.
