Patty Wong (librarian)
Patricia "Patty" Wong is the city librarian of Santa Clara, California. Wong is the president of the American Library Association (ALA) for the 2021-2022 term and is the first Asian American president of the ALA. She has been on the faculty at the San Jose State University iSchool since 2006, teaching subjects such as equitable access to library services, library management, and library services to young people. Early life and education Patricia Mei-Yung Wong was born and raised in San Francisco, California; she is Chinese American and a fourth generation Californian. She earned her Bachelor's degree in women's studies from the University of California at Berkeley in 1983, and went on to earn her Master of Library Science degree from the same institution in 1984. Yolo County (; Wintun: ''Yo-loy''), officially the County of Yolo, is a county located in the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 216,403. History The Mid-West Chinese American Librarians Association began on March 31, 1973, founded by Dr. Tze-Chung Li and Dorothy Li, as a regional organization in Illinois. Lois Wolk
Lois Wolk (born May 12, 1946) is an American politician and former member of the California State Senate. A Democrat, she represented the 3rd Senate District, which encompasses the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta region and portions of the North Bay. Wolk was a member of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus. Before being elected to the State Senate in 2008, she served in the California State Assembly, where she represented the 8th Assembly District, and the 5th Assembly District after the 2010 redistricting. She is also a former member of both the Yolo County Board of Supervisors and the Davis City Council. Early life Wolk was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned a B.A. from Antioch College in 1968, and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1971.
