Hull, Iowa
Hull is a city in Sioux County, Iowa. The population was 2,384 at the time of the 2020 census. History The first settlers in the Hull area arrived in 1872. The city was incorporated on May 15, 1886. Hull was named for John A. T. Hull, a member of the United States House of Representatives from Iowa. It was previously named Pattersonville for John G. Patterson, before changing its name to Winland then finally Hull in the 1880s. In 1993, The Foreign Candy Company of Hull became the first American firm to import Warheads (candy). Pattersonville, Louisiana
Patterson is a city in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 6,112 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Morgan City Micropolitan Statistical Area. History During the early 19th century, a group of Pennsylvania Dutchmen boarded a sailing vessel in New Orleans and ventured into the Bayou Teche. One of them, Hans Knight, decided to settle his family in what is now Patterson. The community was originally called Dutch Settlement, Dutch Prairie, and Dutch Town. In 1832, Captain John Patterson, a trader from Indiana, settled there. He built a store and became a prominent citizen. The town was renamed Pattersonville after the captain successfully moved the post office to Dutch Settlement. Pattersonville was incorporated in 1907 as the Town of Patterson. James "Jimmy" Robert Wedell (March 31, 1900 - June 24, 1934) was a famous 1930s racing pilot and aircraft designer. Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction was a census-designated place (CDP) in Schenectady County, New York, United States. The population was 918 at the 2000 census. The area was not delineated as a CDP for the 2010 census. The CDP was in the town of Rotterdam and took its name from two hamlets in the town. Geography The Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction CDP was located at (42.878941, -74.058756). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.5 km2) was land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km2), or 10.60%, was water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 918 people, 368 households, and 260 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 680.0 per square mile (262.5/km2).
