Patterk Netser
Patterk Netser is a Canadian Inuit, Inuk politician, who was the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district (Canada), electoral district of Nanulik in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut from 2004 to 2008, and was reelected to the legislature in 2017 to represent the new district of Aivilik. He was stripped of his ministerial portfolios after sharing his anti-Black Lives Matter and anti-abortion views on Facebook in mid-to late 2020. Netser was born in Coral Harbour, Nunavut. Prior to becoming an MLA, Netser was involved in local and territorial education as a member of the Coral Harbour District Education Authority and the regional education board. During the 5th Nunavut Legislature, Netser was named Minister responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation and Nunavut Arctic College. The 2020 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election was a leadership election held to elect a successor to Andrew Scheer, who in December 2019 announced his pending resignation as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. The election was conducted by postal ballot from mid-July to 21 August 2020, with the ballots processed and results announced on 23–24 August 2020. The $300,000 entrance fee made it the most expensive leadership race in the history of Canadian politics. Leslyn Lewis (born December 2, 1970) is a Canadian lawyer and politician who has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Haldimand—Norfolk since 2021. A member of the Conservative Party, Lewis contested the party leadership in the 2020 leadership election, placing third. Joe Savikataaq (born ) is a Canadian politician who served as the fifth premier of Nunavut from 2018 to 2021. He was elected premier on June 14, 2018 by the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, after his predecessor Paul Quassa lost a no-confidence vote. Politics Savikataaq was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in the 2013 election and represents the electoral district of Arviat South.
