Patsy Moran (actress)
Patsy Moran (born 1951) was an Irish hurler who played for club Kilkenny Championship clubs Muckalee/Ballyfoyle Rangers and St Martin's. He played at senior level for the Kilkenny county team for a brief period, during which time he usually lined out as a centre-forward. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Muckalee/Ballyfoyle Rangers GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Muckalee and Ballyfoyle areas of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History The Muckalee/Ballyfoyle Rangers club was formed in 1971. The new club claimed the Kilkenny JHC title after a defeat of Mullinavat in 1974. It gained a second promotion just a year later when senior status was secured by winning the Kilkenny IHC. Muckalee/Ballyfoyle Rangers's time in the top flight saw them lose the 1980 SHC final to Ballyhale Shamrocks. 1984–85 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship
The 1984–85 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship was the 15th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county club hurling tournament. The championship began on 30 September 1984 and ended on 24 March 1985. Ballyhale Shamrocks from Kilkenny were the defending champions, however, they failed to qualify after being beaten by St. Martin's in the Kilkenny Championship. On 24 March 1985, St. Martin's won the championship after a 1-13 to 1-10 defeat of Castlegar in the All-Ireland final replay at Semple Stadium. It remains their only All-Ireland title. 1979 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1979 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 93rd staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 27 May 1979 and ended on 2 September 1978. Cork entered the championship as defending champions, however, they were beaten by Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. Kilkenny won the title after defeating Galway by 2–12 to 1–8 in the final. Teams A total of eleven teams contested the championship, one of the fewest participants in years. Only four team contested the Leinster series of games.
