Patsy Keever
Patsy Rouzer Keever (born December 20, 1947) is a North Carolina educator and Democratic politician. Family and education Patsy Rouzer Keever was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended NC public schools and graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She started graduate work, earning a master's degree in Education from Western Carolina University. Keever and her late husband John F. Keever were married for 34 years. They lived in Asheville where they raised two daughters. She has four grandchildren and continues to reside in Asheville, where she lives with her second husband Jim Aycock, former publisher of '' Black Mountain News.'' Teaching career Keever was a teacher for over 25 years. For the majority of her career, she taught 8th grade social studies and language arts. The North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) is the North Carolina affiliate of the Democratic Party. It is headquartered in the historic Goodwin House, located in Raleigh. North Carolina's 11th Congressional District
North Carolina's 11th congressional district encompasses most of Western North Carolina. Since January 3, 2021, the district has been represented by Madison Cawthorn. Redistricting The 11th district has historically been known for its volatile politics and was once considered one of the most competitive congressional districts in North Carolina. It was traditionally anchored by the heavily Democratic city of Asheville, with the rest of the district being split between Democratic-leaning counties in the south and Republican-leaning counties in the north. Consequently, congressional races were historically hard-fought and often very close. North Carolina Senate
The North Carolina Senate is the upper chamber of the North Carolina General Assembly, which along with the North Carolina House of Representatives—the lower chamber—comprises the state legislature of North Carolina. The term of office for each senator is only two years. The Senate's prerogatives and powers are similar to those of the other house, the House of Representatives. Its members do, however, represent districts that are larger than those of their colleagues in the House. The President of the Senate is the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, but the Lt. Chuck Edwards
Charles Marion Edwards (born September 13, 1960) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 11th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he represented the 48th district in the North Carolina Senate from 2016 to 2023. Early life and education Edwards was born in Waynesville, North Carolina. Patrick Timothy McHenry (born October 22, 1975) is the U.S. representative for , serving since 2005. He is a member of the Republican Party. Terry Bellamy
Terry M. Bellamy is the former mayor of Asheville, North Carolina. She was first elected to the Asheville City Council in 1999 and won re‑election in 2003. She was elected mayor in November 2005, defeating incumbent Mayor Charles Worley in the October primary. Bellamy became the youngest mayor in North Carolina at the age of 33 and the first African-American Mayor of Asheville. North Carolina's 10th Congressional District
The 10th congressional district of North Carolina is a congressional district in central and western North Carolina. It currently includes all of Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, Polk, and Rutherford counties, and part of Catawba, Iredell, and Buncombe counties. Republicans have won the district continuously since 1969. Republican Patrick McHenry has represented the district since 2005. Jeff Gregory (D) was defeated in the 2010 election to represent this district. The 10th district was part of the controversial statewide redistricting by the Republican-led state legislature in 2011. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. The Sierra Club is an environmental organization with chapters in all 50 United States, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
