Patrick Terence McGovern
Rev. Patrick Terence McGovern, SJ (; 28 October 1920 – 30 September 1984) was an Irish Catholic priest and unofficial member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Biography McGovern was born in Dublin, Ireland on 28 October 1920. He became a priest after he graduated from the secondary school. At the beginning he still enjoyed the freedoms and was not restrained with noviceship and scholastic life. On 7 September 1938, he entered the Irish Jesuit novitiate. He first arrived in Hong Kong in 1947 and was in North America for studying social studies for a period of time. He was ordained priest in Ireland on 31 July 1953 and returned to Hong Kong in 1955. For the following decade, he devoted himself into school work, with a few years of pastoral work and army chaplaincy in Malaysia. He worked for various voluntary agencies and in 1965 he became director of the Caritas Social Centre, Kennedy Town. Wah Yan College, Hong Kong
Wah Yan College, Hong Kong also referred to by its acronym WYHK is a private Catholic all-boys grant-in-aid secondary education institution run by the China Province of the Society of Jesus in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It was founded by on 16 December 1919. It was a non-sectarian school when it was founded, and the Jesuits took over the operation of the school in 1932. Subsidised by the Government of Hong Kong, WYCHK is a grammar school using English as the medium of instruction (except Chinese and Chinese History). There are around 60 teachers and 800 students. It is a sister school of Wah Yan College, Kowloon. The school has an enrolment of approximately 800 students with 60 teachers and a few Irish Jesuit fathers. The supervisor of the school is Rev. Fr. Andrew So Kwok-wing
Andrew So Kwok-wing, SBS, OBE, JP (; born 29 March 1939) is a Hong Kong educator and politician. So was born on 29 March 1939. He studied at the Wah Yan College, Kowloon and the Grantham College of Education and worked as an educator. He took an active role in the credit union movement since 1963 and was the founding president of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions in 1971. he was also managing director of the Credit Union League of Hong Kong and director of the CUNA International/ World Council of Credit Unions from 1969 to 1981. He had also served as International vice president for Asia and Africa with CUNA Mutual Group from 1974 to 1994. At the time he was the chairman of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese. He was made Justice of the Peace in 1980.
