Paddy Phelan
Patrick Phelan (16 September 1910 – 7 December 1971) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Freshford, County Kilkenny, Phelan arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-one when he first linked up with the Kilkenny senior team. He made his debut in the 1931 championship. Phelan went on to play a key part for more than a decade, and won four All-Ireland medals, eight Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Phelan was an All-Ireland runner-up on four occasions. Phelan represented the Leinster inter-provincial team for a remarkable thirteen years, winning four Railway Cup medals in 1932, 1933, 1936 and 1941. At club level he won three championship medals with Tullaroan. Throughout his career, Phelan made 42 championship appearances for Kilkenny. Patrick Phelan, (February 1795 – June 6, 1857) was a Canadian Roman Catholic priest, Sulpician, and Bishop of Kingston briefly in 1857. Life Patrick Phelan was born in January or February, 1795 in Ballyragget, Ireland) to farmers Joseph and Catharine Brennan Phelan. He first studied under the local parish priest, before attending a Latin school in Freshford. In 1816 he went to the Castlemarket Academy in Ballyragget until it closed in 1820. After a short period as tutor to the children of a Catholic gentleman near Carrick-on-Suir, Phelan emigrated to the United States in 1821. Bishop of Boston Jean-Louis Lefebvre de Cheverus sent him to Montreal to study for the priesthood. On 24 Sept. 1825, with Bishop Jean-Jacques Lartigue presiding, Phelan became the first priest to be ordained in Montreal’s newly consecrated church of Saint-Jacques. At age 13, he got his first synthesizer, a Korg MS20 and learning how to program the MS20's patch bay gave him his grounding in understanding the fundamentals of sound synthesis. A few years later, the VIC was replaced with a Commodore 64. Soon there was a confluence between his gaming obsession, and his love for sound and music. Influenced by Rob Hubbard and Ben Daglish, Phelan began to write music specifically for games. Pat Phelan (born January 16, 1985 in Houston, Texas) is an American soccer player. Career Youth and College Phelan grew up in Enfield, Connecticut, and attended Wilbraham & Monson Academy, where he was named the 2003 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year. He also played club soccer for the Oakwood Soccer Club. He played college soccer for Wake Forest University, where he was a double major in political science and Spanish. He was named to the 2004 ACC All-Freshmen Team, the 2005 Top Drawer Soccer 2nd All-America team, the 2005 NSCAA All-Region Team, and 2007 ACC First Team.
