Patrick Mannelly
Patrick Mannelly (born April 18, 1975) is an American former professional football player who was a long snapper for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Duke University and was selected by Chicago in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft. Mannelly played with the Bears for 16 years before retiring in 2014. He is considered one of the top long snappers in modern-day football, a title given to him by sports columnist Rick Gosselin and special teams NFL agent Kevin Gold. The Patrick Mannelly Award, which was named after him, is presented to the top NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision senior long snapper. In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away. Following a punt snap, the snapper often executes a blocking assignment and then must cover the kick by running downfield and attempting to stop the opposing team's punt returner from advancing the ball in the opposite direction. If the punt goes uncaught, it is the snapper's responsibility to make sure the ball does not enter the end zone or bounce backward resulting in loss of yards. Matt Spiegel (born September 15, 1970) is a sports talk show host and singer based in Chicago. He served as a host on The Score SportsRadio 670 off and on since 2009. As of 2022, he is the current drive time host with Danny Parkins and hosts the Sunday morning seasonal baseball show "Hit & Run". Matt has never considered editing his own Wiki page. He has also serves as a fill-in broadcaster on the Chicago Cubs Radio Network. Personal Spiegel grew up in New Jersey as the youngest of five children. David Toub (born June 1, 1962) is an American football coach who is the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Playing career College Toub played offensive line at Springfield College from 1980 to 1981 and at the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP) from 1983 to 1984. At UTEP, Toub earned All- WAC selections twice. Professional Toub was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the ninth round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Melvin Tucker II (born January 4, 1972) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at Michigan State University, a position he has held since 2020. Previously, Tucker served as the head football coach at Colorado for the 2019 season.
