Patrick James Long
Patrick James Long (March 17, 1864 – September 20, 1934) was an American businessman and politician. Long was born in Georgia and settled in Ironton, Crow Wing County, Minnesota in 1888 with his wife and family. He was involved with the real estate, lumber, and mining businesses. Long served as mayor of Ironton for four years. Ironton is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 572 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Ironton is on the Cuyuna iron range, from which its name is derived. It is immediately adjacent to its twin city of Crosby. History Ironton was platted in September 1910. Crow Wing County, Minnesota
Crow Wing County is a county in the East Central part of the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 66,123. Its county seat is Brainerd. The county was formed in 1857, and was organized in 1870. Crow Wing County is included in the Brainerd, MN Micropolitan Statistical Area. History This area was long occupied by the Ojibwe people, also known as Chippewa. In addition, numerous Dakota people lived in central and southern Minnesota before European settlement. European Americans established a trading post by 1837 in this area, on the east side of the Mississippi River opposite the mouth of the Crow Wing River. The post (named Crow Wing) soon became a center of trading with the region's Native Americans, with a general-supply store that served the area.
