Patrick Hamill
Patrick Hamill (April 28, 1817 – January 15, 1895) was a U.S. Congressman from the fourth district of Maryland, serving one term from 1869 to 1871. Hamill attended the common schools in Westernport, Maryland, and engaged in the real estate business and mercantile pursuits, and was collector of taxes in 1841 and 1842. He served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1843 and 1844, and was a judge of the orphans’ court of Allegany County, Maryland, from 1854 until 1869, and elected chief judge in 1867. He was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-first Congress, serving from March 4, 1869, until March 3, 1871, but was not a candidate for renomination in 1870. Francis Thomas (February 3, 1799 – January 22, 1876) was an American politician who served as the List of Governors of Maryland, 26th Governor of Maryland from 1842 to 1845. John Ritchie (Maryland Politician)
John Ritchie (August 12, 1831 – October 27, 1887) was a U.S. Representative from Maryland, and a judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals. Education Born in Frederick, Maryland, Ritchie completed preparatory studies at the Frederick Academy. He commenced the study of medicine but abandoned it for the study of law at Harvard University. He was admitted to the bar and began practice in Frederick in 1854. Early career Ritchie served as captain of the Junior Defenders (militia) and was ordered by President James Buchanan to the scene of John Brown's raid at Harpers Ferry. He also served as State's attorney for Frederick County, Maryland, from 1867 to 1871. Oakland is a town in the west-central part of Garrett County, Maryland, United States. The town has a population of 1,925 according to the 2010 United States Census. The town is also the county seat of Garrett County and is located within the Pittsburgh DMA. Oakland is situated only miles from the source of the Potomac River, which flows directly into Chesapeake Bay. It is also near the Wisp Resort at Deep Creek Lake, a major ski resort for many Marylanders and other visitors. History Oakland was formally incorporated as a town in 1862.
