Patrick Femerling
Patrick Oliver Femerling (born 4 March 1975) is a German former professional basketball player who played as a center. Professional career Femerling was born in Hamburg. He played for ALBA Berlin in Germany and with them he won three German League championships (1999, 2000, 2008). From 2000 to 2002, he played for Olympiacos and with them he won the Greek Cup (2002). In 2003, Femerling won the EuroLeague championship while playing for FC Barcelona. He also won two Spanish League championships (2003, 2004), one Spanish King's Cup (2003), and one Spanish Supercup with FC Barcelona. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. EuroBasket 2005
The 2005 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2005, was the 34th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe. It also served as Europe qualifier for the 2006 FIBA World Championship, giving a berth to the top six teams in the final standings. It was held in Serbia and Montenegro between 16 September and 25 September 2005. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The Germany men's national basketball team (german: Deutsche Basketballnationalmannschaft or ''Die Mannschaft'') represents Germany in international basketball competition. The team is directed by the German Basketball Federation (''Deutscher Basketball Bund''), the governing body for basketball in Germany. Currently, Germany is ranked 8th in the FIBA World Rankings. Between 1949 and 1990, separate German national teams were recognised by FIBA due to Allied occupation. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system.
